I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits, pay, career advancement opportunities, great product

    Cons

Metric overload, no culture, very conservative and love to hide behind "policy"

    Advice to Management

Invest in employees and empower them rather than micromanage the small details that don't directly relate to success

I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Solid pay, great benefits, strong name recognition and leading edge products and services

    Cons

Upper management is out of touch front front line demands, compensation doesn't match company goals. Total focus on sales with little regard for customer experience. Leadership encourages internal competition between channels instead of collaboration.

    Advice to Management

Make common sense decisions that allow employees to thrive. Company goals need to be reflected in compensation.

    Pros

Great benefits. They have really awesome 401k and health benefits. Top tier on that .

    Cons

They are always changing quotas. Once you hit one thing they make the quota higher. When you figure out how to make money they double the quota.

I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The benefits were very good and they are the clear leader in this space (best network, etc.). Income was very consistent and there were some opportunities for advancement.

    Cons

The culture included extreme micro-management and at times, outright harassment. Upper management in Florida operates in an ivory tower with lots of nepotism. Income is capped. While you can advance into other positions the at target comp (salary + commission + bonus) virtually remains the same.

    Advice to Management

Don't windfall your sales people or at least raise the cap at which a windfall kicks in. Lighten up the atmosphere a bit. You are a winner in the space. Take some time to celebrate in order to improve your culture.

I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great Pay if you hit or went over quota. Awesome 401k program and benefits. Plenty of company events and perks.

    Cons

Lots of change. One objective one week and a different one the next. Management was chosen by who had the best numbers and not the best qualifications. Some higher ups could use training in how to be effective as leaders and not bullies.

    Advice to Management

    Be conscious of your professionalism.

    Pros

Great pay, excellent benefits, freedom, finger on the pulse of wireless technology

    Cons

Quotas are out of touch with reality, judged monthly/can still be written up regardless of prior month performance, senior management thinks there is no difference between Boston and any city in Maine

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees & adjust your expectations accordingly
