I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Benefits, competitive pay, fast paced, good work environment, multiple levels of management, half of accessories, 2 weeks paid vacation, can move up in company.

    Cons

Dishonesty. Went in for interview and never once said I was the best at sales or said I was even good at it. However upon leaving the interview management told a friend who works there I said I was the best and was too arrogant for the job. The truth behind it was they didn't want to hire me due to National Guard training that would be extensive for a month and a half. What a joke. If you are military don't even apply for this company. My friend who served with me even said they have discriminated against him for military experience.

    Advice to Management

    Be honest to employees

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Verizon has great benefits and pay from the beginning for employees. The company really invests their time and money into each employee for trainin.

    Cons

Work life balance is hard to achieve within the retail industry but it is even more difficult in the cell phone industry due to multiple timeframes that are considered "black out dates" due to demand in the industry.

    Advice to Management

Adjusting schedules or requests by employees instead of using the scheduling tool that generates itself.

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Great Benefits
    - Great Discounts

    Cons

The hours are atrocious. There is no work/life balance at all. If I need to go to the doctor, I have to do it on my off day, or my "weekend". Usually can get one weekend off a month if you request off for it. Having two shifts, opening and closing, would be so much better than working crazy hours every day. My schedule usually looks like: M 8:45-6:15, T 10:30-8, W 9:15-7:15, TH 12-9, F 7:30-6:45, S 11-8, SU 10:45-6:30. Also include an extra 30 min every 8 o'clock shift.

Second complaint. The management is way too obsessed with numbers vs. caring about their employees. Every transaction is questioned, every customer should have "_____", Why aren't you selling this... It makes going to work extremely stressful and I in no way look forward to it. The fact that we have to say certain things to every customer and recite to our managers what we learned about every customer can get tedious. Not every customer is going to want to stand around and listen to a sales pitch when they're trying to pay their bill. It just makes me feel uncomfortable and stressed when taking a customer, a.k.a. my job.

    Advice to Management

Try not to make your employees feel so hesitant to help a customer. We want to make money just as much as you do, we don't need a lecture on it every customer, we do our best.

Provide better life/work balance. Better hours is necessary for our sanity.

Give more advice on how to do the things you expect from us, instead of just telling us to go do it.
