I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Reasonable pay, work indoors out of the heat. Near impossible to get fired. On-site cafe and gym, pay out of pocket.

    Cons

Decreased healthcare coverage with higher copays. Limited promotional opportunities unless you want to relocate. Top heavy management due to down sizing and consolidating but making sure higher ups still have a job. Lots of opinions but consensus is rare and nothing gets accomplished.

    Advice to Management

Weed out the redundant managers, senior managers, directors and sips to streamline chain of command so finally one person can make a decision happen.

    Pros

Great benifits. Provides lots of training. Get to work with some awesome people. Excellent work life balance.

    Cons

Can become draining after a while. Customer expectations and company policy do not always go hand in hand and you end up with your hands tied.

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Gain and use your time off before you quit or find something else. Stay past training to get your accrued personal time.

    Cons

Unprofessional frat like work environment with inexperienced and lazy management. Quick to fire people but this is literally a revolving.

    Advice to Management

Get off your behind and answer to escalations. Stop breathing down peoples necks and making them uncomfortable over upgrades and tmps. Grow up.

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Pay is very good if you are in retail sales or sales management. People often don't understand how much money we can make. People assume retail means low pay. I made high $50s as a rep and around $70 as an assistant manager. Of course the store you are in can mean lower or higher pay. The insurance benefits are awesome. The 6% 401K match is also extremely good.

    Cons

If you cannot adjust to change this is not the place for you. Change happens constantly and you are expected to adjust, sometimes with very little or no notice. The company sometimes "fixes" problems with the systems that really makes work harder. This is a very demanding, numbers driven company, and quotas will change every month. I've been in retail for over 4 years, and every time you have a really good month, the company will adjust quotas for the next 2-3 months to make it really hard to hit a good commission. As time goes on it seems you have to work harder and harder to make the same amount. The schedule can also be very challenging, especially if you have a family. This can vary by location, but no 2 weeks are the same. Days off and shifts vary from week to week and day to day. As a retail operation we only close 3 days a year. Communication sometimes is very last minute and creates unnecessary stress. Customer service can be terrible and call the store frequently to do their jobs for them. If the don't want to deal with something they just tell the customer to go to the store and get it fixed.

    Advice to Management

Communicate ahead of time with your store teams and don't wait to announce important things the day before they go into effect. Make it simpler for your employees and your customers. There are always a hundred promotions and no good way to keep up with them and they are complicated to complete which often leads to upset customers in stores that reps have to try and appease instead of selling. Fix customer service. There seems to be no accountability for care agents who make promises for the store that are not within policy, or promise manager overrides for the stores and they don't even have that authorization in their own channel for good reason.

    Pros

Great pay and benefits. Fun environment when they're different events.

    Cons

Schedules are not so great and if you don't mind being on the phone for your full shift then this is the perfect job for you. Have to be able to adapt very quickly to change and explain the changes to irate customers. Not many opportunities to really get off the phones.

    Advice to Management

Management can make or break your experience.

I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time

    Pros

The company has an excellent benefits package, higher than normal pay, superb twelve week training. They also have superb ways of rewarding employees.

    Cons

New hires seem to get really crappy schedules because of low seniority. As length of time with the company increases, schedules do seem to get somewhat better. Not a whole lot, but a little.

    Advice to Management

Nurture your new employees. With an industry that has such of a high turnover rate, you need to walk each employee through their first year so that they will stay with you.
