    Pros

    Advice to Management

Settle down to a more consistent path forward, remember that high pay means you can have high expectations, quit outsourcing

I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The salary, benefits, and paid time off were quite good. However, over the course of my seven years, it is my understanding that starting salaries dropped from when I started there.

    Cons

The environment in the call center was very stressful. Over seven years, the philosophy went from providing excellent customer service to "get it done fast and sell more product". The last thing a customer wants when troubleshooting a technical problem is a sales pitch. The leadership was largely unsupportive, as they were fighting for their own survival as well. Only a few really seemed to be advocates for the agents on the phone. Many workers ended up on FLMA due to anxiety and stress-related conditions as a result of this atmosphere.

    Advice to Management

Focus on being advocates of the employees who service your customers. Corporate greed tends to make employees miserable and they leave.

    Pros

Decent pay, can move around quickly, good benefits, discount on products and services, funny people to work with, good holiday pay.

    Cons

Don't care about employees. Very clique-y, management sleeps around to get where they want, very monononous, some supervisors don't care about doing the right thing, and will do anything to get to the bus, shift bid is terrible especially for new people.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to your supervisors and listen to your reps more often. That places is like a high school with the amount of gossip and sleeping around people do there. Very unprofessional.

I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, time off, yearly bonuses, phone discounts, management was very personable, open door policy, annual pay increase, onsite Starbucks

    Cons

The job was very stressful and repetitive, they don't give you enough time away from your desk, you're tethered to your phone for 8 hours a day, the hours are terrible working weekends with split days off.

    Pros

My team was great, we were truly like a family. Great benefits and good amount of vacation time and personal time.

    Cons

Employee phone program started of great then when down hill. Schedules were not great and scheduling bids were often pointless.

    Advice to Management

Care about the reps like you do the customer

I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Benefits are great. Flexible work schedule. Weekends and holidays off was a big positive as well. Pay was probably top of the line for the wireless industry, but middle of the road for most industries.

    Cons

Easily the most stressful company I have ever worked for. When I started out, everything was great, but moving to sales with Verizon is a mistake. You will literally dread going into work every day. You have to know someone to advance your career. My friend who worked customer service for Verizon was having a hard time dealing with angry customers, he managers advice to her was to "pick up evening drinking".

    Advice to Management

Too many managers with Verizon are poor leaders. Their example of coaching someone to improve is to threaten them with corrective action. While I am sure this works for some people, when 90% of your managers are using that as their primary coaching strategy, it is hard to develop talent.
