I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Compensation is competitive but you will work very hard for it. Culture is excellent and exhibited and practiced from the top down. Benefits are excellent and cost reasonable. 401k match and profit sharing. Lots of training and professional development opportunities. Can advance if you're willing to relocate.

    Cons

Company is trying to transform into what it wants to be beyond a wireless carrier (cloud?, security?, telematics?, wholesaler?, etc) and is struggling with a vision, resources, and org structure to make it a reality. Several re-organizations over last few years so job security has frequently been a question. Often delayed response to competitors caused by management's concern that acting would result in not meeting Wall Street expectations. Not the "happiest" place to work because no result is ever good enough and successes aren't celebrated because the focus is always on the next weekly/monthly/quarterly goal.

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Amazing health insurance 401k and opportunity to earn tons with commission. I made 76k last year with my base only being 36k.

    Cons

It's retail the hours suck. Metrics are always changing and management can really be on you at times. Sometimes it appears nothing that you do is good enough.

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The benefits are great. Laid back atmosphere. High earning potential in the sales roles. Advancements in the retail channel are attainable in a short amount of time. If retail/sales is your thing, this could be a great fit for you.

    Cons

It's retail at the end of the day. Weekend and holiday work is to be expected, so having a full life outside of work is hard to maintain. Who you know gets you further than what you know

    Advice to Management

Be accessible and knowledgeable across the board. Managers can become distant from their sales reps if they've been out of the sales role for too long. Knowing the changing challenges your employees face is critical for managers to be of any help

I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Staying on the cutting edge of technology and being a leader in the industry. There are some really good technical people that work there.

    Cons

Serious bureaucracy!! As time has gone on a lot of good, smart, useful people were pushed out by people with less integrity and who came out of other wireless companies just looking out for themselves

    Advice to Management

Things aren't always what they seem

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good starting pay. Benefits are A+. 401K is dollar for dollar match up to 6% yet you can invest more in your 401k than 6% of your check with $18,000 yearly cap. Shift bid is based on 50% seniority & 50% performance which gives you a change to get a good schedule if you perform well and haven't been there for 5yrs plus. If your shift starts later than 1PM you receive a 10% shift bonus and working on Sundays you receive 35% hourly increase. When overtime is available: time & half up to 11hours and double time for 11+ hours. Sometimes OT comes with bonuses if you work so many OT hours within a week or weekend. 2weeks vacation as soon as you get out of training also 56 hours of paid personal time off. If you need to switch your schedule for kids/doctors or other appointments you can flex your shift for up to 4hours and make up same day or another. Tuition up to 8k per year as long as you get and maintain a C grade or higher. Books reimbursement on your paycheck. 50% you Verizon bill and 35% off accessories............ Advice work hard and network with management. Like most careers/jobs its usually who you know that makes it easier and a lot smoother to advance. This job can become a career/stepping stone to get to where you want to be whether with the company or taking your talents elsewhere....Best company I've worked for in the customer service field.

    Cons

Sometimes you deal with customers who think cellular phones are perfect and don't malfunction or they're billing statements are wrong and they call in yelling or saying bad words. Store reps create problems for Customer Service Reps to fix....Seems like pay raise metrics changes every year or two. You may end up with a shift with split days off or no weekends off. Pay raises and yearly bonus should be better. Supervisors seem stressed out all of the time. You may have to relocate to advance.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the customer service reps, we are on the front line.
