    Pros

Great benefits, especially a short term incentive bonus that is performance based.

    Cons

Continually changing pay scales and incentives for the worse.

    Advice to Management

    Needs less micromanagement

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

401k benefits and other great healthcare. Vacation and personal time are given in a good quantity. Vest after 3 years.

    Cons

The company constantly punishes their employees for following the rules. Nothing is ever good enough and they will try to fire you if you go on leave of absence or STD. Layoffs are frequent although we were promised it wouldn't happen. Definitely not a rewarding place to work and it continues to get more demanding. There is a lack of integrity from within the company and HR is more about saving the business from headaches than looking out for the employees. Many of the sales tactics are old school and extremely aggressive and some have even scare tactics and manipulation of costs. The company pushes for adds of lines in order to keep Wall Street up on demand and when I does so it creates a sales culture that varies from business to business because there is no control of the District managers. Micro managing is a must here and results are expected now without knowledge. There is a clear lack of communication and the CEO needs a reality check.

    Advice to Management

Stay away it's a down hill slide for this company. You're better heading to a competitor.

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good pay, decent hours, helpful staff, good working environment they allow you to bid on shifts every 6 months so you are constantly able to change up whenever you like.

    Cons

Demanding job, stressful, not for you if you don't like getting yelled at constantly. Management isn't really there to help as much as they should be. They are a little lazy when it comes to one on one help and attention.

    Advice to Management

There needs to be something done to improve the stress levels in here. There are times when your 15 minute break just isn't enough to get over a hour long call that was escalated for things that we as reps have no control over.

I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Pay and Benefits are good considering.

    Cons

Management varies greatly depending on location, Verizon is slowly trying to cut down its retail section, making the position more difficult and pays less than it did. There is very little room for growth or moving up in the company.

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Staying on the cutting edge of technology, seeing all of the new equipment that's coming out and testing it months in advance. Benefits are top notch, including 401K, healthcare, and discounts on cell phone plans for the family. Different teams will have different experiences based on the leadership, but the current leadership team I have is second to none.

    Cons

Pressures from the marketplace have people squeamish about their jobs. We've seen cuts over the past 3 years that makes people in HQ feel like they could be soon to follow. This past year was the first time in the last 15 years that Verizon did not pay out 100% or more on the bonuses. That also has people concerned and starting to look elsewhere. As always, there are a few bad apples who are "people managers" and they're driving people away from certain teams and causing unnecessary turnover.

    Advice to Management

When people leave their position within the company to take a lateral move or downgrade, ask them why they are really leaving. More often than not, it's because they are fed up with their immediate leadership team and see that the grass IS greener on the other side of the cubicle for a lot of people.
