    Pros

Competitive compensation, exciting products and services

    Cons

    Worklife balance is poor.
Misaligned incentives create at times - customer hostile experiences.

    Advice to Management

Stop prioritizing incremental adds and pull-through sales at the expense of doing what's right for existing customers. Customers are fatigued as every in-store interaction has become about closing additional sales rather than ensuring fit and satisfaction with existing solutions. It is insufficient to simply say that you care about growth and retention equally, the incentives of all sales staff are dramatically tipped towards growth and retention/customer experience suffer as a result.

I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

It has been great while it lasted. Opportunities for growth and promotion from within, excellent benefits with tuition reimbursement, health coverage, etc. They also have an excellent training department and you will continually be trained on new products, services, leadership methods, etc.

    Cons

Unfortunately with the recent lay offs of many store closures, it's hard to believe in the company that you've dedicated your life to for so many years. It didn't matter what your performance was, you were still laid off. That's corporate for you.

    Advice to Management

My advice is that you really value your excellent employees who have performed and exceeded goals for many years for you.

I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The amount of money that I made at Verizon Wireless was amazing, and it kept me there for six years. Retention is great, because the salary is great. It's really tough to find a job anywhere else making that kind of money.

I frequently traveled, which I really enjoyed. The company also had great kick-off events, which would fire you up for the sales year.

    Cons

There is zero work-life balance. I managed three locations at one time, and I needed to be available anytime they were open. Forget having a nice family dinner - I could, but they were always interrupted. Even family functions were hijacked by family and friends asking 101 questions about their cellphone. Also, conference calls at 4AM happened; even if I was scheduled off.

In addition to the above, upper management never seemed happy. I had very successful stores, with sales above and beyond sales goals. However, they would be upset that the store didn't even do better than that.

    Advice to Management

Don't wait to a kick-off event to praise successes. Also, understand that there needs to be time outside of VZW. There are assistant managers and other operational staff for a reason, empower them and prepare them for the next steps. Some DM's I had were great at this. I had one in particular who was terrible at this.

    Pros

Excellent Pay and Benefits. Great products and services

    Cons

Exceeding goals wasn't enough. There was always something that wasn't good enough.
Very little work life balance on the Retail side

    Advice to Management

Say job well done when goals are exceeded.

    Pros

Meet interesting ppl through your your day.. some can be very kind while others are more so rife than anything else

    Cons

Rude ppl can be the let down because they tend to take out their frustrations from all day on the reps if you aren't able to exactly help them with they're needs

    Advice to Management

    Don't be so stuck up

I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Fun atmosphere, good people, good training, lots of opportunity if willing to relocate, decent pay

    Cons

Not flexible, retail hours, continually worse commission structure hurting pay, high stress for sales numbers, dealing with angry customers, time off hard.

    Advice to Management

Don't have 10 calls throughout the day to have managers report numbers and then threaten when numbers are low for whatever reason.

I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Awesome pay, awesome benefits, great team environment within your individual store. Flexible schedule and the work never gets old as it's different every day.

    Cons

No work life balance. Despite the large amount of time off its frowned upon to take it, especially during holiday times. Quotas can be extremely hard to achieve during certain months.

    Advice to Management

Too much disconnect between the front line and upper management.
