I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Verizon has a good culture, great benefits and very competitive pay.

    Cons

While most things are wonderful, the career progress is arduous (especially for Information Technology). Some of the reporting statistics are excruciatingly tedious.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work

I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great pay, excellent benefits, and amazing bonuses at the end of the year.

    Cons

This place is completely numbers based. My first week in on the job training and second day of taking calls,I was told by my upcoming supervisor that my numbers were awful and I needed to fix them immediately or he'd fire me. I reported it to the AD and my supervisor was supposedly coached on how long new hires had to get their numbers dialed in after training. I worked there for 7 years from customer service up to supervisor. If you want to progress into management roles it's not about what you know or how good you are at your current roles, or how amazing your Nunes have been for the year. It's all about who you know and how much Butt you've kissed and are willing to kiss in the future. My husband and I both worked there. My husband and I had been in a horrible car accident resulting in us being on short term disability. Upon returning to work both of our doctors had filled out an ADA request for different ergonomic chairs due to the severe whiplash we had. A week after submitting the request, we were called into HR and fired without cause. Both of us hired an attorney. They attorneys sent a demand letter and Verizon immediately came back with a financial offer much to our attorneys surprise. We settled on a 6 figure settlement for all the years we had worked there.

    Advice to Management

If you're going to drive a numbers based environment then make your decision for management positions based on those numbers and dedication to the job instead of who your applicants know and have brown nosed to. Also when someone is out on a legit disability that was approved from start to finish, DON'T FIRE them for asking for a chair so that they can return to work to perform job duties earlier than the doctor recommended so you're not paying out on a disability claim instead of their wages. .

I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Excellent benefits, competitive pay structure, fun culture, great people, in an environment that helps individuals and groups strive for excellence.

    Cons

Budgetary cutbacks have led to workplace reductions in force. Many excellent, long time employees have been laid off for this reason.

    Pros

The company has a lot of great benefits. There is a good culture and atmosphere. On the job training is exceptional.

    Cons

They do not have very competitive pay for a technology company. The company has recently adapted more of a do more with less attitude.

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

My job allows me in interact with great companies and my peers are awesome. Verizon Wireless has a great product.

    Cons

Verizon relies on the product too much. We are not as far in the lead as we used to be. Verizon is too big to care about what the frontline people think or care. We report on reports, and we have meetings about meetings. I spend most of my time fixing problems that we create and ignore because fixing it would make too much sense.

    Advice to Management

Replace yourselves or listen to frontline employees that manage unmanageable contract requirements.

I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Hourly and benefits were good. Bonus was nice. Facilities were clean. Coworkers (non-management) are good people.

    Cons

Some management enjoy the power trip. Micro-managed to a degree I didn't think existed.

    Advice to Management

Treat the members of your teams like adults, not children, and the workplace will less stressful for everyone.

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Tuition reimbursement is beyond what most Fortune 500 companies offer. They've been spending a lot of time improving employee satisfaction.

    Cons

The opportunities to progress and promote are similar to any other office job. It's about who you know and how well you can embellish your work.

    Advice to Management

The cost of living is going up faster than the pay increase rates. Adding additional responsibilities to a rep and saying it's just part of your job without additional pay consideration is leading to poor morale.
