I have been working at Vermont Department of Labor full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The staff make it a great environment to work in.

    Cons

Could be a little bit more spacious for a working environment but seems to be very organized.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great work! You all seem to be on the same page and work together as a team!

    Pros

I was hired for a unique project and realized that despite how large this dept. seems, you can still get a one-to-one with the commissioner, which is rear in most states.

    Cons

Of course there is the apathy among the union workers, but generally everyone was quite nice.

    Advice to Management

Managers' hands are often tied since many decision are political.

  3. "Politics get in the way of getting work done efficiently and fair for all Vermonters."

    Pros

Benefits would be the top reason to work there. Granted they aren't fabulous but they are decent in comparison to some other employers.

    Cons

Not much chance for advancement, no room for pay increases besides regular steps. It is not motiviating to watch people not work yet still get the same raise you get.

    Advice to Management

Respect, genuinely, respect your "little" people. Manage your employees and deal with the individuals and issues that should be dealt with.
