I worked at Vermont Teddy Bear full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Everything. The best place on the planet to work. From benefits to the people to the culture.. Nothing beats it....

    Cons

There aren't any. This is the dream company. The hours are long around the holidays but it is such a team effort and everyone gets along so well that those hours are even fun..

    Advice to Management

Best management and treatment of employees I have seen anywhere. I left for a great opportunity but don't think I could ever replace the atmosphere and team spirit I felt ever again..

    Pros

Everyone working there is super nice; a great place to work. Of all the summer jobs, working with teddy bears was pretty great!

    Cons

I really can't think of any, I had a great time working here.

I have been working at Vermont Teddy Bear full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I left a start-up that turned into a toxic corporate environment. Vermont Teddy Bear was a huge breath of fresh air. In the last couple years management has worked hard to create an innovative and highly transparent workplace. All employees enjoy a high degree of autonomy paired with the expectation that each individual exercises their skill and creativity to the best of their ability. I love it here. No politics, no drama, just a focus on creating and selling high quality products (and having fun doing it).

    Cons

Though Vermont Teddy Bear fosters a healthy and positive work atmosphere, people who are not comfortable in being assertive with their ideas/methodologies could potentially be intimidated by the cultural expectation of involvement in most dialogue. Other then that its an extremely open, supportive, and kind work environment.

    Advice to Management

Not too much really. Management has a great grasp on what needs to be done - while actively listening to ideas/concerns of subordinates.

I have been working at Vermont Teddy Bear full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Flexible schedule, excellent benefits and vacation, substantial autonomy, great teams, very positive atmosphere!

    Cons

Everyone pitches in during peak season to guarantee orders are fulfilled - so there are some late nights!

    Advice to Management

Would love to see more in-house contests and activities to get employees involved with growing the company and its sister brands

    Pros

The people are nice to each other here. I like feeling part of a company that brings happiness to the many visitors to the factory during the summer. BBQs, Bake-offs and Bocce Ball. I love it. The benefits package is standard but they do go the extra mile providing gym membership, free passes to a lot of stuff, good discounts for other Vermont companies and occasional give-aways. I think the politics is pretty minimal too.

    Cons

We have been hit by the recession and the slow-down in retail because of it. So people had to be laid off and so good people are gone.

    Advice to Management

Thank you for making announcements about changes happening here.
