    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Veronis Suhler Stevenson full-time

    Pros

Decent deal experience for junior and mid level professionals largely because very few senior professionals add much value.

    Cons

Poor executive leadership resulting in attrition of the most respected senior professionals at the firm. No longer in the buyout business because last LBO fund performed horribly (largely traditional media assets), now only engaged in the mezz-lending business and has way too many professionals supporting a couple of sub-$400 million vehicles.

    Advice to Management

Strip out entire layer of managing directors that add no value to right size the organization for the size of funds under reinvestment and create opportunities for junior level professionals.

    Pros

Strong franchise in the information, education and communications sectors. Very bright, experienced colleagues. Stable firm with attractive growth prospects.

    Cons

Structure at top management level has been unwieldy at times. Current credit environment has reduced deal flow (not just VSS, but all PE firms).

    Advice to Management

Important to improve senior management structure and teamwork.

    Pros

Veronis Suhler Stevenson offers a very good benefits package as well as a competitive salary. The office is also nice.

    Cons

There is a limited scope for promotion if you are not a professional as the company is quite small in size.
