    Pros

    Vertafore is a fantastic company! I have personally enjoyed my time there and I would definitely work there again. If you are entrepreneurial, can deal with ambiguity, are a go-getter and work hard you can really elevate your career. Most of the people that don't last in my opinion do not like these things or capitalized on the opportunities that are right in front of them. Insurance technology is evolving and when I look at the shift in Vertafore's technology vision and roadmap over the last three years it’s been tremendous. People are great and the passion is there. I think Vertafore is primed to do great things.

    Cons

    Work can sometimes be like trying to steer an oil tanker with a electric motor. With persistence it will happen it just takes patience.

    Advice to Management

    There is a level of frustration among the high performers who carry the burden of delivery. At times it can sometimes appear that 20% give 100% while the other 80% look at it more like a paycheck. Bad attrition has been higher than anyone would like. Develop a forum for mid and senior tier leaders to connect with one another and build relationships. Product Management has been making poor decisions as of late around things such as mobile and seems disconnected. Look at leadership here, its my opinion that it lacks direction and the close customer connection that our customers deserve.

    I worked at Vertafore as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Employees are cared about here.
    There are free drinks in the break room, cereal for breakfast, and a coffee bar in the lobby.
    About every month there is some kind of event going on that's a great break and there are trails just outside if you need a quick walk around for a change of pace.

    Cons

    Projects aren't that 'cool' as some other places.

    Pros

    Co-workers. Working hours can be flexible as long as job is getting done.

    Cons

    Dont give you a chance to get promoted, if there is a position available that you qualify and you apply for it, they tend to change the qualifications so that you don't meet the criteria. Many talented employees are leaving the company.

    Advice to Management

    Promote within the company all the employees are angry that you rather hire someone from outside that and they have to start from zero because they don't know the product. The persons that are training the new employees are those that were not considerable for promotion.

    Overblown and absolutely incompetent management
    No general vision and company direction
    No promotion path
    Poor salary increases other than standard adjustment for cost of living (so, please negotaite before you hired)

    Decent enough place to work.

    Very draconian scrum process.
    Benefits and bonus are average for a company that touts that they want top talent.
    Insurance software.

    Find ways to attract top talent by either bumping up benefits, or make the culture very positive and fun.

    Pros

    The company has done well despite the economy, so at no time have I been worried about job security. My current compensation package is good, though I had to fight a bit to get it. I think the best thing about Vertafore is the company and office culture: it is fairly relaxed, friendly and casual. My experience has been that scheduling PTO or needing to work from home has never been a problem.

    Cons

    The benefits package is not particularly progressive, and discriminates against LGBT employees. The company needs to dramatically raise its hiring standards in product development, and if that means dramatically raising average compensation or perks and benefits, so be it. Product quality is suffering because of a lack of talent. Also, at the end of the day insurance software is rather boring. I don't know that Vertafore can do anything to change that, but it is worth noting for any prospective employees.

    Advice to Management

    Update discriminatory benefits policies and increase hiring and performance standards. You need to offer more to attract talent in Seattle's market.
