    Pros

Get to work in all phases of drug development and manufacturing, family atmosphere, great benefits and room to grow.

Sometimes unorganized, changing schedule. That's to be expected. Communication between departments could improve. All minor things especially with a growing company.

    Pros

Vacation time, benefits, compensation in a nutshell. A lot of people are very smart and motivated. The building is great.

    Cons

The politics are dirty, and the work life balance creates a lot of 'unnecessary' stress. The favorites will keep getting promoted like clockwork, so if you care about a career, it's either kiss up or kiss goodbye.

    Advice to Management

Stop playing favorites. Evaluate people on their individual merits. And when the 'non-favorites' are given opportunities to prove themselves, do set them up for success.

I worked at Vertex Pharmaceuticals full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good people who are dedicated and driven to perform well under terribly increased workloads, ever-changing directives, and useless management decisions.

    Cons

When you treat people like they make a difference, they will. (J.Goodnight). Unless you have a competent manager, you won't be treated right. Many good people are overlooked. Too many bad people are promoted or not moved along. The Peter Principal wholly applies here.

    Advice to Management

Find management who understands the relationship between good people, good work and good quality results. Management is a revolving door of quasi-nepotism.

    Pros

Great people, great culture, great company. Maintains a start-up culture, despite the moderate size of the company.

    Cons

Depending on department, work can take much longer than you'd like because of all the restrictions and regulations.

    Advice to Management

Keep pushing forward and maintain the current innovative mindset. This company is capable of great things, but they're still at risk if they get complacent.
