I have been working at Via Christi Health System (More than a year)

    Pros

Competitive pay and benefits. The staff genuinely want to see Via Christi succeed and to provide quality healthcare to our patients.

    Cons

In the midst of a bumpy transition from a hometown hospital to a national healthcare chain. Feel like we have been swallowed up by a giant corporation that cares more about the bottom line, than delivering compassionate and affordable healthcare to the communities it serves.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to your core customer, and your front line employees. If they tell you this policy, procedure, is not working, listen...or see the recent United PR debacle for how not to treat your customer base.

Truly work on building up and supporting growth within this system, even if its just to help an associate get more skills and experience for a short period of time.

I have been working at Via Christi Health System full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

food in the employee cafeteria's good and reasonably priced, plenty of employee parking

    Cons

uses non-profit status to justify lack of raises while company CEO has a private jet and 3 houses. Constantly looking for new ways to reduce your compensation or take away benefits. Most employees no longer work for the hospital, they work for contract service companies.

    Advice to Management

Pray to God for forgiveness for getting in bed with Ascension

I worked at Via Christi Health System full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits, room to advance as well as pay. Friendly co-workers. Can work every other weekend instead of every weekend.

    Cons

I was in housekeeping, at the time they definitely needed more employees. The amount of work load for even me (23 and fit) was unrealistic. I would leave every day with a sore back and sweat covered clothes and would often have to skip lunch. You would get a lengthy list already and then be told to go to other floors to help other employees or cover what they didn't finish.

    Advice to Management

Make sure there's enough employees to cover work load.
