I worked at ViaCell (Less than a year)

    Pros

Working with people dedicated to client satisfaction. My colleagues were professional and still very fun. There is a great energy about the place. I personally felt a great satisfaction at the end of the day, knowing that I made a difference in someone's life.

    Cons

I really don't have anything negative to say about working for Viacord.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work. Caring comes from the top down, and it shows by the caliber of people that you have working for you.

I have been working at ViaCell full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

awesome people, amazing training, great product/service. They used to have lunch catered every other friday.

    Cons

office is based on micro-managing - logging in and out of a time card every day, call stats everywhere, worried more about staying within your 45 minute lunch break than about who is behind on their monthly quota. No movement for career growth either.

    Advice to Management

treat your employees like responsible adults and if you're going to micromanage be flexible in other areas.

I worked at ViaCell full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You get to work with some very interesting and dedicated people. the work environment is very stimulating. The commute is easy if you live near Boston.

    Cons

If your a sales person looking to make $$$, you'll be dissapointed in the commission structure.. Your required to make at least 100 sales a month (at approx $2000 a sales) and you receive less than a 1 % of that in commission

    Advice to Management

If you want to retain quality reps , come up with a plan that is fair to the reps.

I worked at ViaCell full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great people in mid-lower management. Location...Free oatmeal and coffee. Tuition reimbursement was a good perk if you can qualify.

    Cons

No new ideas generated. Sales and inquiries have been collapsing for the last 3 years and the same old ideas are circulated and presented as new. Managers claim to be data driven but cherry pick the data they want to support their ideas. Pay and title is equated with intelligence which is clearly not the case. Technology is chosen to conform to corporate standards not what actually works for the business, leading to frustration and lack of tools needed to move forward. Nickle and dime good employees, the thought that everyone is replaceable, until entire departments leave at once.

    Advice to Management

Get some new blood and listen to the ideas of your lower level employees. There is a lot of intelligence that goes unused, and people are demotivated. Stop trying to implement stuff you learned in business school and work on things that will actually make a difference. Try treating people with respect and tell them the truth instead of feeding them with propoganda.

Right out of college this is a great job
    Fast paced
    Corporate Perka

    No room for growth
No transition options into outside roles
The Manager have no idea what they are doing

Learn how to properly manage your employees. Find one selling method and stick to it until it works. Don't under value your employees. Get better training!
