I have been working at Viant full-time for more than a year

    Pros

VIANT is a great place to work with incredible products utilizing people based data to connect the dots. Company as a whole is doing amazing things and growing strong in the market place while other ad tech companies are struggling.

    Cons

None that I can think of. I have worked at other companies that have weak and toxic leadership. This is not the case at VIANT.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what your doing. 2 years ago things were a little rocky but you took notice and made necessary changes to fix and improve for the future.

    I worked at Viant full-time

    Pros

    - Work from anywhere Friday - The people, however, it seems most have left - You can learn a lot - Breadth of products/offering - You can learn a lot about what NOT to do in business and management

    Cons

    - Bad management - No leadership - Inappropriate use of power - Favoritism to a fault - Lack of accountability - Terrible public speaking at higher levels - Atrocious communication with employees & clients - Toxic environment - Product offering is often misrepresented - Stress can affect personal relationships and overall mental health

    Advice to Management

    - Listen to the feedback in exit interviews - Question why most people leaving are disgruntled - Check your egos and be self aware of what is actually going on at lower levels

I worked at Viant full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The breadth of product is quite large, allowing you to learn a lot in areas that are interesting to you: data, tech, analytics, media. The people are for the most part what keeps everyone going into work.

    Cons

All of the other critical reviews are pretty accurate. Until there's some major shake up at upper levels of management, expect it to be the status quo. Senior management is a joke. It's a case study in failing upwards or advancing because of loyalty to those above them. There are a lot of VPs and above who seem like deadweight and don't have the respect of their subordinates. (Or respect FOR their subordinates either)....

    Advice to Management

Act on the feedback you get in exit interviews. Be more transparent. Match 401k. Bring in some top-notch talent from outside the organization and listen to their recommendations. A lengthy tenure isn't always a good thing. Solicit feedback from employees and act on it rather that disregarding. Conduct 360 degree reviews so people have an opportunity to show you how poorly some managers and people on other teams...

    Pros

Large company that was generally welcoming. Some smart people and half decent benefits.

    Cons

Too many layers of management. Politics/Favoritism is key to moving up the ladder. They promise things to get people to stay, but then don't follow through. It's very corporate in that you can't skip layers to talk to upper management. I saw a lot of dead weight. People who weren't doing their jobs very well, but were there for years and were able to stay on simply because of who they knew or favoritism.

    Advice to Management

The issues stem from management. I don't think things will ever improve.

I worked at Viant full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Being a people-based DSP was a big differentiator to clients which opened up doors to meetings and RFP's.

      Cons

Management/Leadership: Management style was fear-based and had little to no empathy towards employees challenges or concerns. Aggressive and off-putting management communication style did not allow for open and honest conversations which resulted in an incredibly unhappy and disingenuous working environment. Unrealistic goals set up employees for failure and you are told just to "figure it out". Sales leadership lacked...

        Cons

There are certain uncertainties in the company recently. Small scale lay-offs are to be expected.
