I worked at Vibes (Less than a year)

    Pros

Vibes was a great place to work, with very flexible management. I felt truly cared for as an employee even though I was an intern, and although the schedule was hectic, I was always able to reach out to someone for guidance.

    Cons

A little lack of direction at times, but very understandable.

    Pros

Start-up culture w/ scooters around the office.

    Cons

Not good for someone just out of college looking to develop their career. Very little training and development offered. A lot of drama to deal with throughout the company. Low compensation for the amount of work.

    Advice to Management

Care more about your employees development.

I have been working at Vibes full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Frequently a fun environment. You can make a lot of friends here and work with great brands and on really cool technology. You're working for a niche leader.

Middle management (in a twist of weirdness) is fantastic and really keep the organization running and innovating. They inspire and lead great teams and have to fight against the incompetence of up-top.

    Cons

There is a huge amount of politics. It's baffling to see some of the people that get promoted and others that get passed over or pushed aside. A significant amount of really great talent has left the executive level in the last year and has not been replaced.

The 2 co-founders are in over their heads. They got really lucky with a great idea and perhaps were really good when the company was only 10 employees. Now that the company is over 125 folks with substantial clients, it's clear that they do not know how to run an enterprise technology company. Better management and a clear vision is needed to succeed in its current state.

Also, the pay is 20-30% below what you can make at other companies, and don't expect to work any less than 45 hours a week.

    Advice to Management

Promote good people and bring in more experienced leaders. Stop being so full of yourself that you believe you know what's best for the company.

I worked at Vibes (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Culture. Non c-level employees are amazing people. Incredibly fun to hang out with. Great social scene - keg in kitchen, pool table, ping pong, office lay-out is very cool.

Management will encourage and allow lateral movement if you are qualified and have an interest in another part of the business.

    Cons

    Lower than average pay.
Niche product with very little innovation.
Lack of vision from CEO Jack Philbin down the executive team.
Executives are dishonest and have repeatedly not paid salespeople commission amounts they have earned and are owed. I know of many sales people who have lost out on tens of thousands of dollars in commission because Vibes doesn't want to pay and I know of at least one former salesperson that brought a lawsuit against the company for this.
Don't be fooled by the "Core Values" they promote - it's a show to keep you distracted from the lack of career growth you will experience and the low pay you will receive (just like the office perks).

    Advice to Management

Stop being so reactive. Think bigger than the mobile SMS niche and develop something that has broader appeal to marketers.
You talk a big game about your hallowed "Core Values." Try acting on them every now and then.
There's a reason so many employees leave -- you need to encourage career growth with meaningful promotions and pay raises if you want the great people to stay. Once they see behind the curtain they know they need to find another job.
Treat sales people with honesty and respect. Pay them the money they earn.

    Pros

Leadershi is great. Positive work environment. Company stands and lives by their core values- and puts a lot of time/effort into the well-being of employees and continued education.

    Cons

High-stress, fast-paced environment that isn't for everyone. Work-life balance can be a challenge at times.

    Pros

Astonished by the negative reviews here. Previous employees who could not keep up must have written those....Vibes is an amazing company from the culture to the technology to the learning opportunities and career path.

From the spot-on interview process to the development opportunities here, Vibes has it all together.

    Cons

Maybe incorporate more snacks in the kitchen area.....and open more offices nationally (or internationally) as growth continues....

    Advice to Management

Keep dedicating the time you put in to develop your employees to reach their fullest potential......I see lots of rockstars here and can't wait to see the teams grow!

    Pros

Vibes is a great place to work. Besides all the cool and fun things around the office - the people are amazing. Everyone is genuinely nice and caring. The work is fun, innovative and above industry standards.

    Cons

You have to work hard and always be willing to learn new things. If you can't adapt to a fast past environment and quick deadlines - then this place isn't for you.

    Advice to Management

    Keep listening to your staff.

I have been working at Vibes full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

After reading a number of reviews that appear to be written by disgruntled former employees or those new-to-the-workforce, I felt compelled to share the truth about how great it is working at Vibes. I've been at Vibes for a few years and, given the choice, would 100% join the company again knowing what I now know about it.

I've worked at a few different companies before coming to Vibes and I've never seen a better combination of hard work, professionalism, and desire to celebrate the success. Across the board, employees are highly passionate about delivering the highest quality products & services to our customers - and the results customers are seeing are a testament to that work.

The company leadership is extremely transparent to all levels of the company, sharing and discussing company goals and reviewing progress towards those goals on a regular basis. This openness empowers everyone to have a crystal clear understanding of what we are working towards and, as a result, what to focus on and what not to focus on each day.

When it comes to innovation in the mobile marketing industry, no other company is doing more to advance this marketing discipline through a combination of new technology, best practices, and data / metrics. We use an innovation framework to manage how we go about doing this and we are regularly refining it with an eye towards continuous improvement.

If you're looking for a company who is a leader in an emerging area of technology and marketing, then Vibes is hands down the best choice.

    Cons

The biggest challenge working at Vibes is that it takes a lot of effort to get prospective customers to understand how much value Vibes products and services can deliver for them. We spend a ton of time across all departments trying to find different ways to get the "Vibes message" into the hands of our target customers.

    Advice to Management

Keep staying focused on delivering the best mobile marketing experience. Doing 1 thing extremely well will be much more successful than trying to be all things to all people.

    Pros

keg in kitchen, usually used as a vendor to clients and advertising agencies so the lights can go out after 5. recognition of 1 person a week in "game ball" which is employee-picked and comes with a $100. quarterly company meetings that are long, but informational.

    Cons

client service is in little teams and don't share ideas cross company. most are hired new from college or from a customer service/sales background. no one is properly trained on their job. there is no catapult training in place (catapult is the internal mobile marketing technology that they sell licenses to).

    Advice to Management

reorganize the whole company. the structure is for a lean, agile and SMALL group of employees. the only department who has it together is HR with their crazy top grade interviews, bi-yearly and 360 review process.

I have been working at Vibes full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Communication throughout the office is amazing. You are able to learn and interact with individuals of all levels. The actual office environment is uplifting, fun, and productive. You are expected to learn quickly and work hard-- which is empowering and exciting. The core values are evident and strong throughout all employees and the work environment.

    Cons

There is nothing that comes to mind. Working for a small, cutting-edge tech company comes with having to work fast, prioritize and communicate well. These are challenges, but career and personal builders as well.
