I have been working at Viceroy Hotel Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great place to work. It is very youthful and has vibe. People are very friendly at property and corporate level. Guest like the laid back service style, upscale, but with out all the other stuffy things that come with a nice hotel.

    Cons

There have been various shifts in ownership at many of the properties and we have lost a lot of hotels. We are gaining some back as well, but it makes you wonder a bit abou the stability of your job... especially management.

    Advice to Management

To consistently look with in to higher and promote within. Also try to strike a better work life balance for your managers. This will result in less management turnover.

I worked at Viceroy Hotel Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Brand identity is being streamlined with a few new openings in the next couple of years. Internationally focused with opportunity to grow overseas.

    Cons

Small footprint with continuous portfolio changes leads to little job security. Corporate office is lean and does not provide much support for on property teams. Property teams have a lot of flexibility but limited resources to execute.

    Advice to Management

Part of the value proposition is the lower behind the brand - consider standardizing systems and processes.

    Pros

Youre backed by a Union. You get free lunch and dinner. The money is good. colleagues are great!

    Cons

frequent shortage of hotel items. constant change of staff. Mission statement is overlooked. hard work awarded improperly and unfairly. very few to any perks for colleagues to enjoy. food is terrible on the weekends. workplace feels competitive and less like a family structure. Delegates don't utilize the union correctly.

    Advice to Management

If you're reading the reviews then you will notice that the colleagues make this hotel vibrant and successful. Give them more awards. Make their stay memorable as well.

I worked at Viceroy Hotel Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

My team - only people who appreciated my efforts

    Cons

As an Assistant Front Office Manager, I often worked long hours, and had an inconsistent work schedule from week to week. I've come in on my days off to cover numerous shifts, including night audit, and never once said no. After 8 months, my position was "eliminated" due to my manager's promotion and "departmental restructuring." I was told this decision was not performance based. The best part? All I received was a hand shake as I walked out the door - not even so much as a thank you. I gave 100%, and didn't get back one ounce of appreciation on my way out. What a shame.

    Advice to Management

At least pretend that you care about your employees

I have been working at Viceroy Hotel Group full-time

    Pros

Viceroy is still a growing company.
This offers a chance to still be creative, and provide an individual impact.
The employees are warm, friendly and encouraged.
Benefits are available - and are in line with industry standards.

    Cons

Some room for growth in the area of employee internal systems.
Still using older systems for processing of vacation, and sick time requests, etc.
Mixed property standards in the brand. Some hotels are below par, and some are very high end.

    Advice to Management

Continue to keep it up. Overall, employees are happy and proud to work for Viceroy.
