I worked at Victor Technologies full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great team efforts, very little micro managing,

    Cons

Martin Quinn was a great CEO. I am not sure about the new one and I think he gets paid way too much money.

    Advice to Management

Try taking care of your working personnel and quit sending our manufacturing to China or Mexico. It's clearly not working.

    Pros

It pays well but only for working 60+hrs. If they ever actually cut the hrs like they constantly say it pays average. Depending what they bring you on at and or drop your pay to that is....

    Cons

It's a joke. Management talks down to everyone as a whole like you're misbehaved ignorant children. Everything is a priority so nothing is ever accomplished. If you have to come in late they tell you that you have to stay late. If you have to leave early they will tell you to come in early. They pay everyone differently and tell you that you can not discuss pay with each other (because they're shady). They bring people in making more than those who have been there for years. They will drop your pay as a temporary. They will fire people for next to nothing such as an accident. Some in the company in different areas work a straight 12 hrs with a 30 minute break while others work 12.5hrs and 30 minutes is taken off their pay for their same 30minute break. They laid off people who had been their 35years while keeping new lesser paid employees instead of their loyals that helped drive the company. They do not care about you. It's good if you have no social life no family no hobbies and you need some money until you find a career. But be careful if word gets out you're looking they will find the reason to fire you. Mandatory 12hr days 7days a week happened here. For 2 months.

    Advice to Management

Stop acting like you're above your employees and learn what priorities are. That's when something is of more importance it takes "priority" and receives the most attention in order to resolve.

I worked at Victor Technologies full-time

    Pros

Great stepping stone to other marketing careers. Flexible hours and worked with very smart, helpful people

    Cons

Not the most interesting job you'll have, but it's great job coming straight out of college. Their company is focused on industrial equipment (welding, cutting, brazing). So if you should know this before going into the job.

    Advice to Management

Put more money into your marketing efforts. The company has plenty of funds to do more effective advertising/marketing.

I worked at Victor Technologies (Less than a year)

    Pros

The only pro is having a paycheck

    Cons

So many employees that are getting ready to retire, they could care less about properly training new people.

    Advice to Management

get some dedicated and consistent employees to train new people & get rid of the nasty, slippery oil. It is a safety hazard.

I worked at Victor Technologies full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I love the people who worked for Victor. The job sucked but we embraced the suck together.

    Cons

Where to start? No home life. Seemingly constant mandatory overtime. 12 hr days normal. Constantly being asked to meet unreasonable performance expectations. The warehoyse is an utter disaster in terms of cleanliness and organization. Contractors and temps constantly let go for minor infractions. And the main manager is one of those guys who WILL be right....even when hes wrong. Especially when hes wrong.

    Advice to Management

Happy employees make hard working employees. Stip treatig employees like cattle. Stop talking down to them and treat them with respect and you will be amazed what happens.
