I worked at Victoria's Secret Stores part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Discount, gratis's, community values. I loved my team members, and loved doing floor sets. Great products. Constantly changing the game in intimates and apparel

    Cons

constantly changing sales quotas to be met, goals are unrealistic for demographic and times of days. Sales Generalist role is basically a sales role but you don't make commission and still have to work at the cash wrap, floor sets, projects and shipment... but a sales associate has to meet a SPAH and makes commission and all they do is sell.... a little unfair. management changes are consistent which makes for awful communication or management styles.

    Advice to Management

Find a comfortable SPAH for a generalist role. the stress of hitting such a high number when working maybe 8 hours on the floor the whole month is unrealistic. Or when you are working before store hours or after and still have to make up those sales?

I have been working at Victoria's Secret Stores full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great job for young girl or boy, looking for a retail job or a student who needs a job that can work around a class schedule. It's an iconic brand with beloved products that you get a discount on, however the employee discount is just as good as their big sales so don't get too excited. Some stores have a strong team that support each other and make work fun, and if you can make it into management you'll be compensated well, and have great benefits.

    Cons

Management is apparently very difficult to move into, with no management experience, even if you've given four years to the company and graduated with a bachelors in business. You also fold panties, every day, by the thousands, no matter how long you've been there- you fold all the panties. They do not appreciate their employees, I've been a selling associate participating in an "incentive" pay structure for 2 years and they have been making changes since they rolled out this new "bonus" idea. You should not be able to play around with people's incomes the way limited brands has, lowering the incentive pay out for peak months (jan-feb, june, nov-dec) and notifying us two weeks into the earning period so if you think you'll have a good check coming, you won't. There's also a store bonus for all other associates, that you can get if you're entire store exceeds sales goals- sometimes you have a better chance of hitting the lottery. It's very stressful, and working with all women can be dramatic and chaotic.
The company is also going down hill fast, stock is dropping everyday. They are making the products cheaper and compromising quality, if you're a loyal customer of Victoria's Secret prepare to be disappointed the next time you go to buy you're favorite bra, you can feel the cheapness of the fabric, disappointing.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate the employees you have that work hard, explore internal candidates before exploring external candidates for opportunities of advancement. High turn-over should be a sign of poor management, losing long-term employees should speak volumes.
Invest in quality; quality products, and quality employees, that is what people will pay for and come back for.

    Work culture environment
    Employee Recognition Program

    Cons

    Low pay and high expectations
    High shrink levels

    Advice to Management

Follow rules no matter what your position is. Stop making so many "exceptions" for customers after an employee spent so much time and effort explaining the rules and regulations too.

    Cons

    Low Wages

I have been working at Victoria's Secret Stores part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Incentives, Discounts, Growth Opportunities, great part time job if you are going to school or have a different source of income.

    Cons

Not much full time opportunity- will give you full time hours with NO benefits. Hardly ever given positive feedback or acknowledged for my work. Favoritism among some managers and if you had an issue you needed to address it would turn on you- some managers never took accountability for their own actions

    Pros

Loved my regular customers and coworkers were always chatty and having fun! The discount was fantastic and freebies as well! Hours were good, tend to work 25 hours a week!

    Cons

Pressure to make budgets and sales targets was intense. Upper management was too demanding of staff and goals were sometimes unreasonable.

    Advice to Management

Advice to management would be that a little recognition can go a long way, and to be a bit more reasonable with targets.
