I worked at Victoria's Secret Stores part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good pay for retail, sales commission bonus were amazing.. I think they're gone now though.

    Cons

Former manager was very inflexible. She has since left. Employees can be catty together.

    Advice to Management

Make more relevant training videos to help associates during training and share plans so we don't hear them through the grapevine

    I worked at Victoria's Secret Stores part-time

    Pros

It is a team environment. You can learn a lot about how the retail machine runs. There is a lot to do and different areas that you can work in. Environment is fast paced which helps the time fly by. The holiday season is always fun to work because the visuals are so pretty. It will definitely give you an opportunity to learn a lot for your next job.

    Cons

There is a large management team and each usually has different styles. At my store they never were on the same page. So you have to be adaptable to working with many different types of personalities. It can get competitive on the sales floor. As an associate you work extremely hard and most don't get paid enough. As most employees are female, there will be some minor dramas.

    Advice to Management

Recognize you have many different types of people working for you. Creating a positive work environment can be challenging but it will really boost the moral of the employees. Handle incidents as they come and avoid favoritism. Praise those who do well and tell those who don't how they can improve.

    I worked at Victoria's Secret Stores full-time

    Pros

It was great working with so many different people. Our store employed over 20 girls. Everyone worked well with each other and got along.

    Cons

We would be under staffed a lot of the time during busy hours. Management did not get to take normal breaks.

    Advice to Management

Make sure employees are getting the correct breaks. And try not to schedule someone to close and then have them open the next morning.

    Advice to Management

Figure out who's the most passionate on your teams and help them grow.

I worked at Victoria's Secret Stores part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Gratis, fast paced/busy, knew most of the repeat customers by name, very flexible schedule, & getting personal with customers.

    Cons

merchandise was mostly unorganized, opener's constantly had to clean store, because closing shift didn't do it, hardly ever got to take my breaks on time, poor raises, didn't get credit sometimes for a purchase made....

    Advice to Management

be more attentive to little things, enforce policies, hold associates accountable for their actions, & consider giving associates more on raises, especially the hard working 1's.

I worked at Victoria's Secret Stores part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Associate discount & employee gratis (free or steeply discounted new merchandise), great team environment, paid time off and insurance benefits for full-time employees

    Cons

Strange hours during shipment processing and floorsets- either incredibly early in the morning or very late at night, difficult to advance in the company, vast differences in pay rate between associates.

    Advice to Management

Provide more opportunities for current employees to move up the company ladder- upper management tends to hire outside of the company to fill a job because it is cheaper than promoting an equally qualified current employee who would require less training to do the job properly.
Narrow the gap in the pay rate of different types of associates- A part-time sales associate can make up to 3 times the pay of a part-time sales support associate even when they work the same number of hours.

    Pros

I loved the girls I worked with! Lots of free product! Lots of hours if you're a hard worker! I love limited brands and everything they stand for!

    Cons

The management was terrible. Requested days off were almost never approved. If you do not like pushy sales tactics, this job is not for you.

    Advice to Management

Follow through with what you say. Be a leader not a boss. Don't sit in the office and bark commands, come to the sales floor and teach associates through example how to perform as expected.

I worked at Victoria's Secret Stores part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It is a stable work environment that continues to grow. Provides competative hourly wage. Great product along with a great discount.

    Cons

High stress atmosphere. Long hours with no overtime payout. Lack of work life balance due to retail hours, affording only one weekend off per month.

    Advice to Management

Try not to be so condescending when speaking with associates or correcting selling behaviors. A lot of these behaviors could be corrected with proper training and leading by example instead of hiding behind a walkie or in the office.
