I worked at Videojet Technologies full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good professional environment and there are a lot of projects to keep you busy.

    Cons

Videojet is a "buy the numbers" organization so it's not so warm and fuzzy. Some overtime will be expected but compensation is fairly good.

    Advice to Management

Nothing comes to mind. Company seems well managed.

    Pros

You come across some of the best opportunities to learn processes and develop yourself.

There is constant change which can be a good thing as you are always pushing yourself and pushing for improved processes

    Cons

Sometimes there's a bit too much of change.

    Pros

Secure and stable job, competitive compensation and benefits,

    Cons

There is a lack of growth and development opportunities for a majority of the employees. Sporatic workflow gets papered over with the "fast-paced work environment" euphemism. Even the mission of the conglomerate that owns Videojet, "Helping Realize Life's Potential" hints at how vague and uninspiring the work is. Most peoples passions are not realized, many are just working for the paycheck and it contributes to a generally miserable corporate culture and work environment. This company is not good for and not supportive of women.

I have been working at Videojet Technologies full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Minimal. The people who do the day to day work are amazing.
The DBSU classes provide valuable skill development for all roles. Danaher Business Systems has amazing tools, if used the correct way with support of a leader who understands the concepts and culture of DBS.

    Cons

Leadership provides zero support and drives a siloed environment. All teams are out for themselves. Business is metric driven, and all metrics work against each other - which in turn drives backstabbing behaviors just to reach your target. Around Q3 the leadership team starts to push teams to the extreme to meet the bonus. Why wouldn't they? Their bonus structure is much of their overpriced salaries. While the rest of the work force barely sees a drop in the bucket with the bonus received. Their constant message is, “If you don’t provide the results, then we are going to have to tell people they won’t be receiving their bonuses.” It’s presented as a threat, where the real threat is to the leadership teams bonus. Work life balance is non-existent. Prepare to be at the office for 10-12 hours a day, go home and take calls late at night and early morning, answer emails within minutes of receiving them; eat, sleep, breathe Videojet. Anything less is unacceptable. Working from home is not a concept that is grasped by the leadership team. If you are not at your desk, you are not working. None of the employees are treated as the adults they are. How do you give people jobs with responsibilities if they will never be given the opportunity to get out from under the micro-managing magnifier? When employees leave for other positions outside of Danaher it is said that they have “escaped”. This culture drives burn out, frustration and turns employees into a shell of their former self. Those who stay long would be good candidates for a Stockholm syndrome study.

    Advice to Management

It would be nice to provide feedback here, however when internal surveys do nothing to change culture or behavior I don’t see how this would make a difference. The annual survey is another metric to get to 100% participation, and then do nothing with the results.

    Pros

Great benefits (company vehicle that can be used as personal, cell phone, iPad, laptop, health and 401k with match). Work days are never dull. Great team environment. Excellent commission incentives.

    Cons

No real cons. There are some occasional long days, but mixed in with a few short.

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing what you're doing.

I worked at Videojet Technologies full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Decent pay, good people at lower levels really trying to do the right thing, good benefits.

    Cons

Work environment was competitive to a point of most people working under the constant fear of losing their jobs. Executive level management turnover like I have never witnessed before and such a huge disconnect between this level and the rest of the organization. President didn't even know most people in the mid-level and below, wouldn't acknowledge you in the hallway. Very cold, unfriendly place to work.

    Advice to Management

Stop focusing on the spreadsheets and the results. Pay more attention to the hardworking people in the organization and get to know them. They have great ideas. Pay more attention to the customers and operate as if they have just invested a LOT of money in Videojet. Your product is not cheap, the service needs to be EXCEPTIONAL. Listen to the voice of the customer and change things accordingly or the bottom line will begin to suffer. Your competitors will exploit this weakness.

I worked at Videojet Technologies full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    The benefits are really good

    Cons

There is little to no respect for the employees doing the job. Everything is so metric driven which could be fine if management would bother to determine if the metrics are logical or if the metric goals will actually accomplish the desired outcome. Often the metrics are not logical or are counterproductive. The management team publically argues among themselves and there is minimal teamwork in the department. Anyone looking to experience a prison-like work environment should immediately apply to Videojet.

    Advice to Management

If you are going to verbally say you want feedback and that you respect what each employee says, then your actions must back those words. Otherwise, your words are utterly useless. Additionally, backstabbing and lying about each other isn't appropriate behavior for a management team (or for anyone) so stop.

    Pros

Benefits, company activities, pay raises, and bonuses.

    Cons

Lack of teamwork and being in Credit is a total joke. Collectors have to make so many outgoing phone calls per day and Manager does not help when you have issues . What a big joke? Half the time you can't collect on past-due invoices since there are issues and no one to help you.

    Advice to Management

You need to practice what you preach with all. No one follows the Danaher Business System like you say they do. Enforce accountability with associates.

I worked at Videojet Technologies full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great commission structure for business development role. I was there and made more than the next role up, and possibly more than my manager.

    Cons

Company only cares about the themselves. I talked about having health issues and they did not seek to help out. Rather than asking what's going on, just turned to write ups. Was consistently number one on the team, yet consistently did not feel valued.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of them, was way better with the older management team. This new management team seems to only care about them moving forward in the company. Did not seem to care about employees growth.
