I have been working at Vidyo full-time

Great additions to the team who will lead us into next year.

"Great technology showcased by mediocre products stifled by terrible management"

I worked at Vidyo full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Starting salary is decent. Fully covered health insurance. Possibility of remote work if you have the right manager. Claimed focus on healthcare and finance will give mediocre products a chance to succeed (temporarily).

    Cons

Three rounds of layoffs in 3 years. Reactive executives and product managers put out constant fires that they cause rather than driving products forward. No culture aside from forced, fake HR events. Depressing facilities (pray you don't get stuck in the broken elevators or sweat to death when the AC dies). No 401(k) match.

    Advice to Management

Vidyo is better at sales and marketing than at delivering products.

Focusing on healthcare and finance is a good idea because those industries are accustomed to terrible software; even Vidyo's mediocre products stand a chance. But don't expect that to last long, since the players who outdid Vidyo in the general collaboration space will probably target those spaces next.

Providing "delightful" products needs to be more than just a tagline trotted out at company meetings. When your design team is sitting on product improvements — some for over a year — while your product team prioritizes niche features to appeal to the customer of the month, you're missing the forest for the trees. Have the courage to say "no" once in a while, stop putting out fires, and make what you already have delightful first.

If you can't or won't do that, stick to technology services and leave the end user experience to companies where executives listen to the people doing the actual work and the product managers have a real strategy rather than being glorified release managers.

I have been working at Vidyo full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

People you work with - all share the same frustrations :)

    Cons

Positions and employment are based on who you know, skills and talent does not matter. New strategy every few months, no real plan for execution. No accountability.

    Advice to Management

Train management to lead and then lead by example.

I have been working at Vidyo full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Vidyo is a great place to work at. Fast pace, rapidly changing, always looking to improve and be the best out there. Challenging projects with top tier clients, big logos that trust Vidyo to deliver the best video and audio experience out there. Solid SKD and APIs that can enable every workflow. New products and services are being introduced with great focus on managed service, simplicity and easy-of-use.
The customer is at the center of every project, product or service offered by Vidyo.

    Cons

Fast pace means hard work. Vidyo is looking for talent that is able to figure out difficult problems and be part of a team that pushes the company forward to dominant the market. If you are not into hard work and challenges, find something else..

    Advice to Management

Keep leading with focus and execution.

    Pros

Place was a great way to learn and grow working in the tech industry. Corporate values but Startup structure and environment. They try to keep you as happy as possible with their work environment. I had no problems with any HR or management, they were all extremely helpful.

    - Management was great! They were very understanding and always willing to listen to any concerns or grievances.
    - Had a very startup feel to the structure and environment -- could wear casual clothing in the office, catered lunches weekly, and multiple break rooms stacked with food and beverages.
    - Good benefits, 401k, and even stock options

    Cons

    - It was quite a lot of work on a daily basis but that's expected with a startup that has a lot of high end enterprise level clients.

I worked at Vidyo (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Free healthcare, free food and drinks in the kitchen, parking spots, happy hour on Thursdays, relaxed dress code, foos ball table

    Cons

Complete lack of vision, micromanaged by thoughtless unqualified managers, jump through hoops to work from home even though that is one of the reasons we sell the software to customers, always reactive never proactive.

    Advice to Management

Drop your egos. Trusting your employees will get you a lot further. Pick a direction and actually stick with it.

    Cons

CEO has managed to ruin the company in a short 2 years
    Loss of talented employees

    Advice to Management

Senior leadership needs to change. CEO has been a disaster and company's revenue has plummeted by almost $20M since Eran took over.
