I worked at Viking Range full-time

    Pros

Prior to the acquisition by Middleby, there was nothing really negative. Great people!

    Cons

The company has lost it's way, lower wages, confusing directions, no communication, etc.

    Advice to Management

Fix what is broke...don't break what isn't. The best to you. I sincerely wish you all the very best!

    Pros

Good support crew. Able to help co workers. No politicking going on there. Support staff was exceptional in the process of assisting consumer needs. Able to keep consumer confidence at a high level once representatives assist in the service process.

    Cons

Workforce reduction. Not keeping a representative available to suit consumer needs. Service network has no vested interests. Company will endure more products not being taken care of in a timely fashion. Lack of reps able to solve issues will be a burden.

    Advice to Management

Keep reps to save consumer confidence. This way the brand will have a great reputation and this return for future sales and support.

I worked at Viking Range full-time

    Pros

Non-management employees ban together in the misery loves company mentality, always food available, great employee discounts, decent benefits

    Cons

Impossible to complete work load, uneven distribution of responsibilities, no concern for employee welfare, very little pay unless you are management, many are promoted out of necessity and have no business being managers, raises are promised at some undetermined date and never happen, procedures and technology are very dated, very disorganized

    Advice to Management

Drop the dead weight and actually vet and train management instead of promoting out of necessity, pay at least what competitors pay

I worked at Viking Range full-time

    Pros

    great internal co-workers
    strong work ethic of all
other distributed brands offer support to flagging sales of Viking brand

    Cons

formerly strong brand has been hard hit by poor quality in the past makes it VERY difficult for any type of quick turnaround
not many in field sales happy - not achieving $ levels pledged by management and as a result many are looking elsewhere
management has very little knowledge of retail sales and makes decisions by the seat of their pants
very lean company, top to bottom. as a result, top management decisions are imposed on all, regardless of competence
ownership manages to bottom line regardless of impact on marketplace
    poor communication within company

    Advice to Management

go back to manufacturing only; leave distribution to others

I worked at Viking Range full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Location, clean working environment, great people to work with, plenty of work, opportunity to make customers happy.

    Cons

EBITDA bonus is very difficult, lack of concern on making a quality product, down sizing, Viking Distribution has great leadership, but above that - my opinion is that they do not care about people.

    Advice to Management

    Get your money up front!

I worked at Viking Range full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It was a very nice place to work

    Cons

The head of the company was the only one that made any money. It was very low pay scale compared to other companies like it
