I worked at Village Homes full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

They seemed to really care about you, even management, and alot of comradery within the department. It really felt like a family, still friends with several.

    Cons

The downturn in the homebuilding industry really hurt, broke up a good thing. They have since been bought out, and it's not the same.

I have been working at Village Homes full-time

    Pros

Great sales manager. Amazing benefits. Little to no micromanagement.

    Cons

Little work life balance. We seem to be slower in sales than other builders. Sales is treated like slaves to the corporate office. We spend most of our days pushing paper, and doing what marketing and other people in the corporate office should be doing.

    Advice to Management

While we're doing all this paper pushing when are we supposed to have time to sell houses?

    Pros

They care about their customers, employees and partners. Try to do the right thing every time.

    Cons

Struggling economy right now. It can't be easy selling homes and then not being able to close them because of banking policies. Hopefully people will see through the DBJ articles to see that the reporter is digging or assuming/making up more than a story about a good and well respected homebuilding company struggling to weather this economic storm. Now is not the time to kick people when they're down by trying to tarnish their reputation. It must be hard to be one of the remaining employees that are subject to that kind of "sunshine" every week.

    Advice to Management

Good luck hanging in there - there are a lot of people pulling for you

  4. "Best Homebuilder Workplace Environment"

    Pros

Having worked for many homebuilders, Village Homes was by far the best run organization from all levels. Senior Management cared about EVERY employee; compensation was the best in the business; and the company cared about the level of quality it produced.

    Cons

The only downside was the economic environment that was hitting the industry nationwide. Due to these circumstances, bonuses were affected and layoffs were ongoing. Even during the difficult times, Village Homes still kept a positive attitude and maintained a healthy work environment.
