VH/Davita is a mixed bag; may work for some.

    Pros

Yes you technically make your own schedule. Travel between clinics, not stuck in an office environment all day. Company Card, Corporate travel to conferences in other states. General autonomy. If you work with RN's/clinics that do their job & also interact with the program, it can really help better manage patients at the clinics.

    Cons

Making your own schedule is a double edged sword- can mean the work is never ending. Must shut your phone off to be off, otherwise, its all day. Charting system is a mess, not straight forward, like you find in normal clinics where NP's work. Chasing down dialysis patients who don't want to interact is a different experience (this program is optional for them). Some clinics don't care about your input, no real authority. So many meetings. Meetings where you basically have to explain to corporate why a non-complaint patient is being non-compliant. Can feel frustrating. Sometimes we help, but alot of times I'm just not sure. Definitely underutilizes the NP skill set, main Rx is for DME/glucometers. If you want out of the clinic environment, or if you have a family & want a job you can make work for you, VH may be worth it. Be prepared that what underlies the program is that Davita/VH corporate wants to save $ on these dialysis pts. It's not a bad thing to minimize hospitalizations, or help clinics stay on top of tough cases, etc, its just a strange feeling to talk about it to corporate in a way where you're "semi-responsible" for the #'s that they're seeing.

    Pros

    - Being a smaller organization with the financial backing and reputation of DaVita allows for some risk-taking and innovative programs - Business and clinical leadership are very kind, collaborative, and understanding - Growth opportunities for those interested in lateral transfers to DaVita Kidney Care

    Cons

    - Repetitive nature of analyst role (particularly if you are in data analytics) - Lack of transparency between business strategy and clinical goals

    Great Company

    Pros

Awesome training, good pay, great employees with a high-energy work environment. I like that there is plenty of room for advancement. Upper management is accessible.

    Cons

Fair pay with poor yearly performance-based pay increases. I've been with the company for almost 2 years and my first raise didn't even cover cost of living. Also, health insurance has gone up both years. The only affordable plan for families is the high-deductable one which you never benefit from due to the unreachable deductible. They do offer a discount to make up for the increase but, only if you meet certain health criteria. IT dept is horrible....no support at the local level. You wait on hold for extended periods for IT assistance wasting time and sometimes your issues aren't resolved until you finally get the right person.

A lot of talk, not a lot of listening

    Pros

A positive mission Smart, caring people Feel like you're helping people

    Cons

The folks in charge have zero clinical background. After 10 years of trying to figure out coordinated care, they still have no idea how to make it a repeatable process, and no one in charge is really asking the right people or the right questions. The organization's leader is the worst of the lot in terms of not listening and setting utterly unrealistic expectations. It's also a terrible boys club.
