I worked at Vinnell Arabia (Less than a year)

    Pros

Hiring process from first contact with recuriter to deployment was a good experience. Once on ground at the compound things become different.

    Cons

The pay is not worth the time you are away from your family. Living conditions are fair but could be better and safer. Management seems to fear change. Although there is a substance allowance it is not enough to cover cost. If you were not an Field Grade Officer in the military then you will only be able to move through 3 levels of career progression and stop.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees, things and times change and new employees come in with these changes that could be better for all employees and the company.

I worked at Vinnell Arabia full-time

    Pros

Good money and benefits, acceptable living conditions, and a fair amount of vacation time.

    Cons

A rather long work day, generally thick management structure. Far too many managers to employees.

    Advice to Management

Consider a more flexible work day for starters. Possibly allow more visitations from family.

I worked at Vinnell Arabia full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good pay if you are get an approved pay raise. Just a pay check.

    Cons

Job descriptions were changed to recruit Officers to conduct training. Yeah right!
No advancement for retired NCO's. Military all over again in different uniforms.
Managers live in Villas on different compound while employees live in barracks.

    Advice to Management

Give employees that complete missions that gives you bonuses better incentives like raises or admin days. The mission can be completed without the Manager but try to complete it without the employees on the ground.

    Pros

Tax Free money while working overseas, as long as you are out of the United States for more than 330 days.

While you are there in the Middle East, have plenty of opportunities to travel around the Asian Continent.

Plenty of time off when you need it.

    Cons

Had to have a Mosque on the base. Old buildings. US Security forces are not allowed to cary weapons, so have to rely on the Saudi National Guard.

    Advice to Management

Move from Vinnell Compound and make an agreement, like you had before-allowing the US security forces to actually do their job and to protect lives.
