I have been working at Viracon (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great company, many benefits for all employees. Company offers good incentives for attendance, and work performance.

    Cons

12 hour shifts, physical and repetitive work,

    Advice to Management

please look into doing a different shift configuration. Most employees don't like working long hrs. Also, please look into automation, Viracon is a great company but so behind when it comes to technology improvements.

I worked at Viracon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great job opportunities, safety oriented, great pay

    Cons

Not enough PTO, or sick leave. They work on a points system and they can build up quickly and don't drop off for an entire year.

    Advice to Management

Please rethink the points system. It gives employees a lot of stress when they are trying to do their best.

    Pros

It was a stable job with a competitive hourly wage, but not a livable wage to support a family. I enjoyed the schedule which was 3 days per week doing 12 hour shifts, set in such a way as to allow 5 days off. There were opportunities for more responsibility at the time I left but more on that in the Cons.

Work is rewarding for a while as you learn the ins-and-outs of your position.

    Cons

I worked in St. George, UT. They closed the plant down a few years before I started working there and then did a decent layoff when I was employed here. There was a general sense of doom as a lot of employees were leaving to work for other companies when I quit. Overall the layoff made a lot of my co-workers lose loyalty for the company and made at least a dozen or more quit for other opportunities by the time I left.

I give management mixed reviews. My Lead was clearly on drugs multiple times throughout my employment even being put on leave for a couple of months. So at times it was a struggle to have no Lead in my department while we worked.

In addition long term career opportunities are capped at $16 a hour after 4-5 years of work unless you can become a Lead or Supervisor, which are seniority positions that don't open up often.

A dead end grind until robots replace humans.

    Advice to Management

Increase starting wage to $14 a hour and be more competitive and selective with who you hire.

I worked at Viracon (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Viracon has Good benefits, air conditioned, friendly atomosphere. Basically just show up to work with a good attitude and you will do well.

    Cons

At Viracon the Swing shifts in certain departments change from week to week and that is hard on a person that has a family.

    Advice to Management

Take advice from your senior people they are out there in the mix and they see how things work. It could make life a lot easier.
