I worked at Virginia Mason Medical Center full-time

    Pros

Good commuter benefits, excellent 403B contribution and friendly staff.

    Cons

Low salary, unbalanced workload and employees are managed by fear.

    Advice to Management

More focus on employees and treating them well and less focus on Lean Events. Also, building trust with the staff will make the hospital stronger.

I worked at Virginia Mason Medical Center full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You get to work in a variety of clinics

    Cons

-management completely incompetent to the point these administrators should be ashamed; my manager not only lacked a clinical background, she lacked any management experience. She had no clue how to supervise our department, build morale, offer support or do anything useful except attend meetings
-turnover is astounding. It's a revolving door of employees and the new ones coming lack experience and charisma
    -overworked and undervalued
-absolutely no support from any management and HR is a a joke. They don't support the employee what so ever
-gossipy! You can't trust anyone, including management, with anything confidential. I'd never be a patient there
-not even sure what their values are because this institution is valueless
    -underpaid
-not sure when they'll realize a hospital shouldn't be modeled after the Toyota production system who's mission is to eliminate all waste. VM's definition of waste must mean high quality of care, patient centered, team medicine and competent staff. Because that's what's no longer there!

    Advice to Management

Read through these reviews. I quit months ago and just happened to be so thrilled in my current position I posted a review. I thought it only fair I share my negative experience as well. I'm clearly not the only one. There's a common theme here people!!! Your staff isn't happy. Your management is so subpar it's sad. You don't value your providers and we are the ones that keep you afloat so long as we have patients. Hire managers that know what they're doing! And try building a little morale so your providers want to stay rather than opt out for the first recruiter who rescues them!

I have been working at Virginia Mason Medical Center full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

My coworker are amazing. Everyone is really working well together to make the experience good for patients and there is room for growth. Also the subsidized bus pass kicks butt, $50 a year!

    Cons

I've had a good experience here with staff and people but staffing is rough which makes it pretty hard to do your Jon well and feel confident.

    Advice to Management

Negotiate better contracts with WSNA and standardize patient to nurse ratios.
