Good for fresher's but not recommended for experienced
Sep 9, 2019 - Consultant in PuneRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
It is good if you are a fresher as they provide around 3.3 LPA salary at starting. You will have a lot of work and learning in initial years as there is no bench policy in Virtusa and you will be deployed immediately to some development/maintenance/testing project. It is good for laterals as they give even upto 100% hike over your previous salary.
Cons
1) Forget salary hike if you joined as a fresher. Considering you are a good performer and got promotions and hike on time (which rarely happens), it will take you more than 5 years to reach a salary of 5LPA. You can easily get more than this in the market if you switch after 2 years. 2) No work life balance as you will be slogging around weekdays and weekends to meet deadlines. 3) Variable pay is very high i.e. 15% and you will get it only if you are 100% billable on project. If you join as consultant or above position, you will get max upto 60% of variable based on your rating. 4) No transportation provided by company even if you are asked to stay late and you r going home after 1 am. 5) No job security if you are on bench. You might be asked to relocate to other location else fired. 6) No learning and training programs for new technologies. 7) No budget for team outings/events. 8) No fixed cycle for appraisals/promotions and even senior management doesn't know if it will happen or not. No communication to employees regarding this. 9) High attrition rate so you will always have new team members to work with. 10) False on-site promises.

You can get a chance to work on client places where you will get best facilities and also may get chance to go abroad.
Cons
Not great work life balance as it depends on the client for whom you will be working.

Average consulting firm
Aug 28, 2021 - Lead Consultant in New York, NYRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
1. Good work life balance (mainly depends on the client you work for) 2. As you mostly report directly at the client location, Virtusa management doesn't interfere in day-to-day work. All you have to do is to adhere the policies at the client location. 3. I got to with some of the really talented consultant. 4. 401 K 5. Better than other consulting firms in terms of work.
Cons
1. Average compensation. 2. No promotion. There are no guidelines or criteria for one to be promoted. 3. Very less hike every year. 4. Bonus amount is not guaranteed. 5. Management doesn't interact with the employees, so most of the time we don't know what's going on at the firm level.

Pros

Pros
Hardly Any . The way it is being run , it may survive for 6 more months .
Cons
1) Unethical Practices : They recruit from good colleges , give verbal offers , terms of which change at the time of joining the company. Recruits , usually out of the campus recruitment process , are left with no option but to join. 2) Poor Quality of Work and No Role Clarity : People given fancy titles but the type and quality of work does not justify the title. Project Managers expected to play the roles of Leads , Leads the role of developer. Quality of employees at all levels is very poor. In its biggest account , leads , managers , and director perform same work. 3) Complete lack of processes , no support system for employees. IT support is pathetic , IT infra is poor. HR is non-existent. Appraisals have not taken place in last two year. No career growth. Poor facilities . Hygiene factors missing. 4) Reactive leadership , Company running without any vision or clear direction. Frequent changes at leadership positions. They have lost a lot of the business. 5) No work life balance : some of the employees actually work 7 days a week 16-18 hours a day. This is especially true for an account (C***) in Chennai.
