I worked at Visa Europe full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Nice offices in London
    Some knowledgeable and skilled individuals
Life / work balance is possible

    Cons

Since acquisition most perm staff are either looking to leave or have left. High staff churn rate makes it hard to deliver and execute on objectives.
Autocratic management style from Visa Inc has lowered morale. Not much planning and thought has gone into the integration to ensure that new processes are fit for purpose.

    Advice to Management

More inclusivity, communication and planning required for integration effort to work.

I worked at Visa Europe full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Nice people, good reward package and work life balance. The payments industry is constantly evolving and cash displacement remains the biggest opportunity so outlook for the business looks good in the long term.

    Cons

Poor senior management - don't always make the right decisions. However this may change with Europe coming back under control of Visa Inc parent. Also very silo'd.

I worked at Visa Europe (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Challenging and exciting company to work for. Always changing to keep up with technologies and strategies.

    Cons

Too much overlap of work because of growth.

    Advice to Management

Try to retain staff who have many years of experience as they are the backbone of the company.

    Pros

Great place to work - vibe, people, environment all hit the mark. Had a superb people leader who's team was her number one priority. Payments industry is an exciting place to be, very innovative and you are only ever learning which is a good thing.

    Cons

Change seemed to take a long time with decisions being drawn out for longer than needed. With the VI / VE merger moving along, the care for people seem to go as well. Lack of understanding from new management brought upset.

    Advice to Management

Remember, the people brought success to the company prior to the merger - they will be the ones to continue this going forward and they are what makes the company great.

I worked at Visa Europe (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It's the 5th biggest brand in the world. Achieve something big here and you achieve something big on the global stage. If you are in "payments" it's a great name to work for. The recent acquistion by Visa Inc means that you have the opportunity to move jobs and country (if that's your wish) and can really build a career. It's also a company that promotes that employees should get the right balance in life. It provides a great range of benefits.

    Cons

It's a large company. So, like any large company it's a pyramid. Budgets create silos to which bonuses are tied. It can be difficult therefore, to see your personal ideas really reach organisation-wide potential, unless you have endorsement from the very top of the pyramid. You have to be skilled at persuasion or accept that you'll work on projects sent down from the top.

    Advice to Management

Develop a real conversation with those at lower levels in the organisation. Listen and hear what's being said in the organisation. Top down corporate comms is a one-way conversation.
