I have been working at Visa Inc. full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Stable company with decent benefits.
Good values, culture, social consciousness & emphasis on diversity.
Solid future due to an increasing emphasis on technology & innovation.
    Good experience on your resume.

    Cons

HR policies and guidelines are a complete mess.
Limited promotions and career growth opportunities.
Internal processes and tools are very badly managed (frustrating to deal with).
Fiscally extremely conservative ( unless, of course, you're an executive).
Working from home is not an option.
Some teams even discourage flex working hours.
Company culture resembles other Finance companies (fairly conservative).

    Advice to Management

Clean up HR policies and shake up HR management.
Technology orgs should have less micro-managing from the top.
Be less conservative and loosen the purse strings if you want to compete for top talent in the Bay Area.
Allow people to work from home or take advantage of flex working hours.
Change your new "no promotion" guidelines - you will lose good people.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Visa Inc. full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

There are opportunities to work with colleagues around the world.

    Cons

There was poor leadership and management across too many areas of IT the last two years. From the top down, culture changed from respecting people's knowledge and ideas to a dictatorial style. There were no one-on-one or team meetings with my direct manager, and I received my increased salary and bonus without a review or any comments or a discussion from anyone.

    Advice to Management

Get back to basic human resource training. Teach management how to manage and coach then ensure it happens. Do your managers and leaders know their direct reports, and know what they doing without going into a system to read about it?

I worked at Visa Inc. full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great experience overall in the rotational program. The groups that are involved and receive rotational associates are excellent and very competitive. On the business side, there are almost no boundaries to what type of work you can apply for and what office you'd like to work in.

    Cons

Because it is company-wide, the transition logistics can be rough. Keeping both communication and work experience consistent across all groups for every associate can be difficult - and is oftentimes not the case.

    Advice to Management

I believe rotational associates have unique insights into organizational inefficiencies - as their experience oftentimes spans multiple orgs. Garnering those insights as feedback would be a great move by upper-level management.

I have been working at Visa Inc. full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Overall Good company , friendly working environment

    Cons

Does not value experience or hard work - does not pay well enough wit respect to competition for experienced persons , pay to the college hires through the nose and due to the "show off" the senior resources are always drinking from the hose with too much work but no one to do. For the same reason it is difficult for them to move to different areas and different technologies.

    Advice to Management

Pay per performance experience and market

    Pros

Free caffeinated drinks such as coke, coffe and tea. No sharing of desk, great people and awesome company.

    Cons

Its hard to do ypur job when there's little support. We sometime had to walk from one end of the floor to the other for assistance. Or at night sometimes there was only one person.
