    Pros

Production Fab operator's worked 12hr shift's, 3 day/4 day work week's. The company was very competitive in the semiconductor industry. The benefit's, 401k, health were very good. Management was very good to all employee's.

    Cons

Their weren't many negative's to complain about working for this company in my 36yrs. with Siliconix Inc (vishay). Only thing negative were pay increase's, just cent's on the dollar every year.

    Advice to Management

Maybe upgraded the fab sooner to keep it open a few more year's instead of running it into the ground with older equipment. It was hard finding part's last several year's when equipment broke down.

    Pros

It's the leader in the industry in the electronic component or semiconductor. If you continue to be in that field, it's a good name to be on your resume and learn knowledge.

    Cons

It's an old industry. Many people have worked there more than 10 years. There is no innovation left. Everyone is old school in a way and very settled. Not a place for young people to work if you have a big dream and ambition...

I worked at Vishay Siliconix (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Family-like atmosphere. Allowed flexibility in defining work and a creative atmosphere.

    Cons

Vishay as a corporation had no stock option incentives. Executive management had higher levels of perks such as cars.

    Advice to Management

Five year plan to double revenue is the cardinal rule for executive management. That was not the rule. Survivability quarter-to-quarter seemed to be the rule. If you don't know how to double revenue in five years or can't convince corporate how to do it, then hire the subject matter experts that can guide the company to do one or both. Doubling revenue makes a family-like atmosphere jump for joy.

the job of Equip. Maint. Specialist has been rewarding and fulfilling. The pay, benefits are good

    Cons

Vishay will be shutting down Siliconix at the latter of 2015 or early in 2016. I'll miss working at Siliconix and with all the wonderful people.

    Advice to Management

Please take care of all the hard working people that made Siliconix what it is today.

I worked at Vishay Siliconix full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I was able to work a professional level job on a part-time basis. The management was very accommodating and flexible.

    Cons

When Siliconix was bought out by Vishay, things changed from being a small company atmosphere to a more rigid large company environment.

    Advice to Management

Try to bring back some of the way things were in the pre-Vishay days.
