I worked at Visions Electronics full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I liked the community of the workplace and the work environment. Everyone was reasonable and tried to work together. The manager was always understanding and flexible.

    Cons

Sales men can be rude sometimes, and my particular manager sometimes was a bit innappropriate but he was always just trying to be funny.

I have been working at Visions Electronics full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I do work with great people, and the employee pricing makes it tough not to spend half my paycheck there!

    Cons

For operations, there's nowhere to go unless you start at the very bottom. Sales staff can eventually make it to management and are treated like gold (as long as they sell). Salary is also capped at below industry standard. Tough to make a living.

    Advice to Management

Start paying what people are worth, not catering to the lowest common denominator

I worked at Visions Electronics full-time

    Pros

I have to be honest and say there were no Pros. Worst experience ever. If I had to think of a Pro it would be the help of the current staff

    Cons

staff afraid of management especially upper management in Calgary. constantly be threatened by managers who you don't see. General Manager telling you.." I got an email or a text from someone at head office and they want you fired."

    Advice to Management

Hire a Human Resource Manager, give your employees a chance to seek help. If you want more feedback from your employees (which I doubt you do) a human resource manager is the way to go The Managers in Calgary need to be held to employment standards.

    Pros

Great work environment and really easy job. You mainly just talk to people and get to know electronics. Really easy

    Cons

Can be boring at times. Lots of dull moments and working off of commission can mean where you are in the store will determine how much you make

I worked at Visions Electronics full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Some good employees
    - Access to newest tech
    - Good place to gain sales experience
    - General manager was really great.
    - Sales manager was great.

    Cons

    - The pay structure was impossible. If you're not in home theater/audio it's impossible to get more then minimum wage.
    - Massive favoritism. It's a cesspool of overconfident guys thinking they're untouchable. And they are.
    - Outdated sales strategies that you're forced to follow. Customers can see through the bait and switch.
    - I felt almost attacked by upper management at times for not making quotas. Even if we were extremely slow. 1 customer/day sort of slow.
    - The store itself needs an update. Very old looking, warehouse had mold.
    - Did not treat their staff like they were important. The idea that you were disposable was regularly held over your head if you complained.
    - They WILL NOT fire any sales staff. We had awful awful staff that they kept on because they were all friends .
    - Most salespeople at my location already had plans to leave the store when they found another job.
    - They bring ex-employees in instead of hiring new people with a fresh outlook and perspective.
    - Had to regularly work 12 hours shifts. Boxing day/ Black Friday I worked 17 hours nonstop.
    - Only female salesperson. There was a lot of harassment from the 'boys' Although my manager did try to make sure i was comfortable in the workplace.

    Advice to Management

You need to pay your employees better. You're one of the last stores to hold on to this outdated commission only structure. Everyone else pays Salary/wage + commission. It's extremely hard to make a living if you're in car audio or kiosk. Especially when everything was priced so close to cost. Also, the cost employees can see is also very different from the companies actual cost.
I felt bullied by staff on many occasions and there were a lot of discrepancies in my pay. Stop playing favourites and try to make it a better work place for everyone.
Also, benefits only kick in after a year of working? Really?
