I have been working at Visiting Angels full-time (More than 8 years)

They work for you and find good clients.

    Cons

Don't pay enough. Other agencies pay more for my 8 years' experience.

    Advice to Management

Need to pay better or there will be a huge turnover rate.

I worked at Visiting Angels full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I can say the compensation for the position was fair. However, I don't think they really could afford the salary I requested.

    Cons

The owners are out of touch with the industry needs. They are behind the times as far as technology so scheduling practices really suffer. The owners are very unprofessional and talk down to the workers. It's a little weird that their office is a living room and den in their home the owner comes down in her bedroom clothes and curlers mid morning and they have a dog that has the run of the house and office space. Because this is a home in a residential area if there is no parking there is just her driveway which only allows for a limited number of cars otherwise you have to park around the corner and walk very far. A little strange and unorthodox for a healthcare agency to say the least. During the interview I didn't even have her attention she was playing with the dog the entire time it was almost comical. They don't have many clients however if you think you have often go without care because they don't have enough caregivers so clients suffer.

    Advice to Management

Integrity goes a long way in this industry. Also I would consider getting an office space so you can have privacy in your home and not subject employees and posible clients to having to see you in your evening wear during the day. Upgrade your health management systems. Invest in Recruiter and a marketer because you can't wear all hats.

    Pros

they were very flexible with work schedules as long as the family was ok with the changes, and you pretty much worked independently; just having to clock in and out over a phone prompt.

    Cons

they only paid $7.25, and if you had a CNA they paid $8.00. Not having to have any prior experience, always wondered what about the people that didn't know how to do anything, or has had no experience in health care, how were they supposed to care for someone.

    Advice to Management

give your employees a little of a raise, and more people will want to stay.

I worked at Visiting Angels part-time

    Pros

Flexible hours (you tell them when you can work)

    Cons

They pay minimum wage for required training and for the amount they charge customers they should be able to pay their already low rate for trainings since they don't reimburse for mileage. I had two years of experience working in personal care and still only got paid $9.25/hour and had to drive to the home of the client (though you can tell them how far you're willing to travel).

    Advice to Management

Increase your pay for those with experience.
