The Visiting Nurse Association of Florida is a wonderful company to work for. They are both invested in giving top care for their patients and working with their employees. They try to maintain a family like atmosphere.

    Cons

Communication between departments and branches could be improved. Compensation could be more competitive.

    Pros

I love working for the VNA. The main priority is patient care. There are high expectations from field staff to deliver exceptional care and supervisors to manage cases appropriately, but in order to achieve these things the VNA provides ongoing training for every discipline/department. Unfortunately, the staff that refuse to take the time to receive that training are the ones who consider the consequence harassment and unreasonable. However, we promise our patients and physicians our staff will deliver a higher level of care and that is what we do. This is why the VNA stands out above the rest.

    Cons

There are limited number of full-time positions. Most field staff positions are per visit.

    Advice to Management

    Increase number of full-time positions.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Visiting Nurse Association of Florida full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Met some really awesome field staff

    Cons

No teamwork involved. Everyone for themselves. You had no support and could not trust in upper management to uphold policies and procedures to ALL staff, so some could do no wrong. DON very confrontational and nonprofessional. The staff is abused by upper management and schedulers. Miserable place to work

    Advice to Management

Run the business you say you run.....before you can achieve that, you need to make upper management inturnal changes. With out the field staff and basic staff, VNA would be a memory of the past. Quality of care is lacking. Hiring warm bodies to fill a skilled need!!!! Terrible!!!

    Pros

Flexibility is always important in nursing since they expect nurses to work 365 days a year with no monetary incentive.

    Cons

The turn over of staff is hard to deal with as it effects everyone. Constant new nurses, new schedulers etc.

    Advice to Management

Most Home Health is the same. I think VNA has more administrative personal than staff.

I have been working at Visiting Nurse Association of Florida full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits paid for by company, FSA contributions. Most organized company I've ever worked for. Good bonuses for working on call.

    Cons

Low paying for the area. Money hungry, corrupt bullies for nursing supervisors who were given "bonuses" based on their branches profit from Oasis visits. Expected to go above and beyond job role too often (working after hours, working over productivity without being paid overtime).

    Advice to Management

Look a little closer at your nursing supervisors and administrators. Are you sure everything is on the up and up?

    Pros

Meeting difference people. Helping the elderly

    Cons

In order to make any bonus the sale rep has to get 20 medicare referrals. Most other companies you only have to get 15 medicare referrals.

    Advice to Management

    Bring referrals down to 15

    Advice to Management

Remember why you became a nurse - it's about the patients.
