I have been working at Vistaprint full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Very intelligent people who have a lot of passion to build valuable products and help small businesses achieve their goals

    Cons

Agile methodologies create an atmosphere of micronanagement of experienced and skilled developers and a feeling of less career opportunities for in scrum teams

    Advice to Management

Remember that employees need incentives to sacrifice hours and career growth opportunities for the company's benefit

    Pros

Unending stream of work, no sitting around. Teams work with a coordinated sense of urgency. Everybody is on the same page, all the time, as projects move forward to completion without delay or bumps. The pace is terrific for someone like myself who thrives on progress.

    Cons

A PC computer program versus Apple. Apple would be a better choice for a creative department.

    Advice to Management

Switch to Apple Products and software to increase the productivity of the Creative Department

I worked at Vistaprint full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Smart people, challenging problems, very fast paced environment. I came in right out of college and I built a great skill set as a marketing analyst. The people are very friendly, willing to help and you'll be able to develop quickly.

    Cons

Promotions and ratings are pretty subjective and the criteria keep changing over time. Many management shifts that disrupt teams, the workflow and bring down morale.

    Advice to Management

Keep people motivated with more transparent promotion systems and less frequent changes in management.

I have been working at Vistaprint full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I was a campus hire and found the marketing dept. at Vistaprint is a great early career opportunity. Young team members are given real responsibility early on and make contributions. It is a great learning environment with generally good managers and opportunities to move up or around to other specialties.
Vistaprint offers lots of perks: free shuttle, free food truck days, gym and on-site classes, 401K matching, in-house massage, mani/pedi and dry-cleaning. Marketing dept. is generally 9-5 with good work-life balance.

    Cons

    Frequent re-orgs (every 1-2 years)
New title structure rolled out by HR makes title change promotions very limited but pay raises are more frequent but lower %
Difficulties in measuring marketing goals which slows down innovation.

  7. "Interesting place to work, not standard ecommerce"

I have been working at Vistaprint full-time

    Pros

Lots of challenging work as company moves to scale up and modernize technology. Aggressive moves being made to refactor codebase, get into open source / 3rd party and focus instead on core specialties. Printing industry and customization problem for products makes this different than standard ecommerce web site selling inventory of products from catalog.

    Cons

Some of the above are also cons - large, old codebase in need of modernization. Lots of projects, prioritization is a challenge.

    Advice to Management

Help streamline prioritization of work for technology department, don't fill backlog with too many projects and competing priorities which have defocusing effect.

I have been working at Vistaprint full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great at keeping employees informed as to the direction of the business; decision making has been streamlined and has had positive effect on completing projects.

    Cons

Although shifting direction when it is realized the goal cannot be met, it can sometimes be frustrating when that direction is changing more often than expected.

    Advice to Management

Continue with the tremendous amount of communication, transparency and commitment to the growth of the company and to the employees.

    Pros

Lots of fun activities planned for interns: Red Sox game, dinners, city scavenger hunts, etc.

    Cons

Mentorship was subpar for my department - they value software engineers more so than any other positions.
