    Pros

Great people, fun industry and company is looking to grow. They want to grow organically and by acquisitions

    Cons

Communication with overall strategy lacks sometimes. Vistar is a pretty flat organization so opportunities for advancement are minimal.

    Advice to Management

Communicate strategy throughout the year and not just at Manager Meetings and Annual Business Meetings. Reach out to your top employees to find out what their career aspirations are and how they can contribute by learning and developing skills to advance their careers.

I worked at Vistar Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good opportunities to advance within the organization. President is focused on growing the business and the management team is open to employee comments. The work life balance could be better as the company operates with a lean staff and if your salary you'll be working from 45 to 50 hours a week.

    Cons

Pay rates are average at Vistar. This is typical of the food distribution industry.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work growing the company.

I worked at Vistar Corporation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great company to work for, great benefits, good hours great employees.

    Cons

Managment doesn't acknowledge the good work and extra effort you put into the work. They need to come out the office a little more and see the day to day activities and the hard work the people do out on the warehouse. Some people can be underpaid, example both can be doing same job but one employee will be paid more than the other for doing same job. They pay can be very unfair. But overall a great place.

    Advice to Management

Come out on the floor more often, pay everyone equally, post open jobs fairly to give other people a chance to move up in the company, look at people who have more qualifications for a job and not seniority.
