I worked at Vitamin Shoppe full-time

    Pros

The discount was good for what you had to go through.

    Cons

Terrible communication from the District Manager. No visits, no phone calls, gave a year review without every working with me or my store. The "field manager" position was a joke in the region.

    Advice to Management

Take some time and learn day to day operations. When the "field manager" needed help running their store, maybe it was time to look at others in the district to promote up instead keeping things the same.

I worked at Vitamin Shoppe full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Discount, knowledge through training, benefits.

    Cons

Unstable management, poor company growth plan, horrible social media maintenance, zero payroll to manage a store.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees & actually adhere to company policies as to avoid future issues. Unrealistic expectations given the small amount of payroll you expect us to work off of.

I worked at Vitamin Shoppe part-time

    Pros

The Vitamin Shoppe offers a wide array of products and services at reasonable prices. Employees receive an excellent discount on top of that, along with reasonable room for growth. There's a lot to learn while working here, but it all pays off in the long run.

    Cons

Probably just an issue with the area I worked in but, management, along with some staff, was rather untrustworthy. It made the workplace uncomfortable, and challenging to be in. Work/Life balance isn't always easy, with stores being so small staffed. If someone quits/gets fired, it's challenging finding time for yourself outside of work with the time it takes to find someone new. Pay is also minimal, especially with what is required and expected of employees.

    Advice to Management

Build a better system of trust with staff members. The turnover rate in this company is already high, and staff doesn't need another reason to want to leave.

I have been working at Vitamin Shoppe full-time

    Pros

Discount. 40% off VS Brands, 20% off non-vs Brands.
Learn a good amount about the products if that interests you.

    Cons

    Sometimes long shifts.
Stores can be short-staffed, making it hard to request days off.
Traffic depends on store location, job can become boring at times and busy work can seem pointless.
The VSU training required by all members is extremely cheesy, as well as some of the policies they try to implement.

    Advice to Management

Understand that customers don't come in for as much of the "branded" experience as you think. Customers don't want to partake in daily stretching with members of the store.
