      Pros

Good work-life balance with great employee discount.

      Cons

Questionable leadership. During my entire tenure, addressing in stock issues were never resolved resulting in a significant loss of loyal customers.

Great place to work if you care about being healthy.

      Pros

You can make great money for the amount of work you have to do if you have product knowledge and selling skills. Alot of the reviews on here make vitamin world seem like a terrible place but it's quite the opposite I've been here for 5 years now and have managed 2 different stores and loved both of them. If you do your job upper management is friendly if not you are going to hear about it. Flexible scheduling and good bonuses of you can actually hit them are also perks. There's a great employee discount and health benefits and paid time off. The staff you how as a manager will make our break you and your store.

      Cons

The computer systems are terrible. They have been stuck in the stone ages forever. It's bad when customers comment on how old your registers are. Once you really start doing well sales goals go up very high very quickly. Changes in commission didn't seem fair. Alot of things that they do don't seem to make sense at a store level. Lack of communication from upper management and it doesn't seem like they take recommendations or concerns to heart.

      Pros

-The job is easy -The customers are mostly great -The Employee discount is very good -If you are in a high volume store with little competition, life is gravy

      Cons

-2 years of out of stock issues and it hasn't been fixed -The chances of anyone advancing beyond store manager are very low - they hire their friends or former colleagues for upper management -The corporate culture blames the front-line associate for all of the company's problems -The mystery shop is so complicated that mystery shoppers cannot get it right - there are differences of opinion on almost every shop -They want associates to collect customer emails. This allows Vitamin World online to offer "Online Exclusive" deals which are better than the in-store sale -They are at least 6 months behind with getting new products. Their competitors do not mess around and take 6 months to get these products that many people want -They keep deleting products that sell and replace them with low quality, high margin products -They believe in salesmanship over quality products -They cannot and will not take advice from front-line employees

      Pros

      The employee discount is excellent.

      Cons

The pay starts at minimum wage, then they lie and tell you that you can make 3 or 5 dollars more in commission. I also know that management only made 3 or 4 dollars more then the staff. The commission was more like .50 to 1.70. Employees are required to sell at least $38.00 dollars to every customer or you will be let go. You can know how every product can help with health and still not sell $38.00 or make $3 in commission. The company has a 6 step greeting which is more like 10. Don't even think about a raise because it's impossible to get. One of the managers I knew from the company mentioned they had not gotten a raise for 3 years.

      Pros

Great employee discounts if you use supplements. A good place to learn mgmt skills so you can move on to a company that is willing to pay you a fair wage.

      Cons

While working with vitamin world be ready to leave your empathy at the door. In order to meet sales requirement you must be willing to over sale and push customers into buying things they do not need regardless of their budget. There is also no time to have a family so be single and childless to perform your job. You will be on call 24/7 and be required to work nights, weekends and holidays. The pay is low for what is expected of you and you will be asked to work off the clock as well as skip rest and meal breaks. You will be in charge of not only sales goals and cash handling but also visual merchandising, inventory, quality control, budgets, payroll, tracking, training and other duties as they arise. There is next to no training so you will have to learn all of this on your own and there is no place for advancement beyond store level.

      Pros

Learning a lot about health and wellness, great employee discounts, commissions can be good during the busy weekends/ holidays.

      Cons

Often stressful, company is disorganized and chaotic, too many out of stocks which angers the customers. Co puts on a better sale online and advertises to our customers via e-mail w coupons, giving them more incentives to shop online, calling deals online exclusive. Mess up mail orders too often which also sends angry customers into our store w returns and complaints.

      Cons

Low pay. Commission payout reduced. Inflated sales goals. No bonuses especially in high volume locations. Job security constantly threatened by unrealistic goals. Heavy work load for management with no real incentive.
