      Pros

Employee discount great. Learning supplements and their uses. Helping people naturally get healthy. Good and inexpensive insurance benefits. Used to be Blue Cross. 401k Plan and Stock plan. Good quality products.

      Cons

Low pay. Commission payout reduced. Inflated sales goals. No bonuses especially in high volume locations. Job security constantly threatened by unrealistic goals. Heavy work load for management with no real incentive.

      Worst company to work for.

Aug 20, 2016 - Store Manager in Vacaville, CA

      Business Outlook

      Pros

      Nothing, nada, zero, ziltch, capoot.

      Cons

High expectations, low pay, high expectations even after cutting commission, bonuses. No support with hiring, isims is useless, stupid training sessions every year for managers, they were comprised of the same content every year, vitamin world asking for more while giving less. They dont apreciate the successes of the associates in order to keep the moral at a minimum so they can get the most out of you without offering incentives. They are a mom and pop trying to be a corperation. If you want to be taken advantage of while slaving for your sales life while being critisized for every day you dont make no matter what the reason, because there are no excuses in this job especially valid ones, the company has trouble adapting to the times and neglects its stores by neglecting to advertise through proper channels in order to build clientel. I could go on, but you get the idea, this company is not on the top 100, 200, ha even 500 companies to work for for very good reasons, most of them I have outlined, so enter at your own risk.

Talk like a robot, dress like a professional, get paid very low

Dec 17, 2015 - Part Time Store Associate in Grapevine, TX

      Pros

      - you will learn a lot about proper customer service - you will learn a lot about nutritional supplements - good discount on store products

      Cons

      - too strict of dress code especially for the low pay - TALK LIKE A ROBOT TO CUSTOMERS (very scripted policy) - under appreciated and overlooked by upper management - SALES NUMBERS, SALES NUMBERS, AND MORE SALES NUMBERS (the bar is set HIGH) Basically, in my experience, upper management seems to expect you to do back flips for them, but only for it to be quickly forgotten once it actually happens. Very frustrating.

      Great DM

      Pros

Training s exceptional. Learned a lot about herbs, vitamins and amino acids and how they help. Had a great training manager when I started.

      Cons

Low pay. It is plus commission but they keep lowering the commission. Hard to get people to work in our store as wages are not competitive for the area. Not much positive feed back for a job well done which would do wonders for moral.

      Pros

I enjoyed interacting with the customers. I really liked most of the people I worked with. I benefited from multiple promotions in my time with VW. GREAT employee discount!! good benefit package for FT people

      Cons

Low pay compared to rival companies, too many customer discounts hurt my pay, unprofessional micromanaging from higher up, metrics for bonus kept changing (hard to hit a constantly moving target)

Was great, now there is not much left

Apr 9, 2015 - Store Manager in Columbus, OH

      Business Outlook

      Pros

75% discount on all Vitamin World products is the only benefit left that the company hasn't taken away over the last 2 and a half years. If you love supplements, this a huge plus.

      Cons

Too many to name, but I will try. Very low pay for store managers. They just decreased the commission once again. Which caused many good managers to leave, creating even more turn over within the company. No clear direction as to the companies future. Very low morale in most stores.

      Pros

It's a positive and healthy industry and if you like helping people, this can be a satisfying career.

      Cons

Little job security (fear of losing one's job due to not meeting numbers), high-sales pressure, cutthroat, low pay for the volume of responsibilities.
