I worked at Vitamix full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Decent benefits. Nice management. Opportunity to travel. Can be a decent paycheck (due to number of hours that one can work). Flexibility - choose what 11 day periods to work.

    Cons

Hard physically. Days can be 1-2 hours longer than Costco depending upon the quality of Costco. Boring. Sales are low and there are weekly meeting to let you know it's your fault. Low pay. There are other demonstrating companies with shorter hours, better pay, better sales, and same perks.

    Advice to Management

The Costco frankenstein machines are low quality and there are enough people around to spread the word.

I have been working at Vitamix full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The product is the best ! Nothing is better! Good health insurance . Great lower management.

    Cons

Executives don’t listen ! Getting charged back for blenders you didn’t sell ? $1200 against your sales each day making a lousy $13 an hour standing on your feet for 14 hours hey day .

    Advice to Management

Time to step down? Yes! companies been in business for 98 years and only is valued at 75 million as blend tech is not a superior product started 27 years ago and it’s valued at 250 million. Blend tech sued vitamix and won ? , Vitamix also had a class action lawsuit against them and they settled out of court. Why ? Too many bad decisions I think it’s time for the CEO and her executive staff to get out there and... sell these blenders again and work for these ridiculous low wages , Those who work their butts off selling these blenders get paid crappy money they get charged back for products they don’t sell they have five different apps a company could hire a professional IT company and create their own CRM system easy folks ! You don’t need certified, shows, emails, UltiPro I don’t work very good if you would have open conversations with your workers he would know this ! With a product that’s good you should be $300-$500 million company instead of getting passed up by a product that’s not better than yours !

I worked at Vitamix full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Exciting, challenging, meeting new people and working in different places

    Cons

Management doesn't care about you. They're disconnected, disengaged and are not a part of your day to day functions unless something negative needs to be addressed. Was an excellent company to work for when i started, then pay went down, benefits went down and management went into the toilet.

I worked at Vitamix full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great culture. Really care about employees. Benefits are pretty good. Flexible and laid back environment.

    Cons

There can be a lack of direction. Lots of reacting to competition instead of defining their own path. Difficult to get funding for anything outside of engineering. There are some people who are (unfortunately) REALLY bad at what they do.

The company has a family-owned vibe with good corporate values. I've met a lot of great people working here. The compensation and benefits are better than average.

    Cons

Misaligned department priorities and lack of transparency from upper management.

I worked at Vitamix full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The product is truly a good one. Recently, the company seems to be making some bad engineering decisions and focusing on cost more than quality which will bite them in the long run. Great reputation in the vegan/raw food world, and among wellness community. Benefits are still better than most companies, even though people think they aren't great. The b-to-b side of the business is great and doesn't get enough credit.

    Cons

Number one is the lack of leadership--from the top down. Jodi Berg spent time getting her degree and talking about "people" and "purpose" but is one of the worst leaders I've met. She is very disingenuous and often can be downright nasty behind closed doors. People see her speak and think--like she thinks of herself--like she is a messiah. She is not. Once the COO left, people were promoted into positions they... weren't qualified for. The COO job is one the company needs desperately, but it has to be someone with global experience. They are a company that doesn't know how to be international but pretends like they are doing great.

    Advice to Management

To the board: time to replace Jodi. It would probably be best to hire someone new to the company and not try to promote one of the ineffective, unqualified VPs you have now. And really live your values. You say you do but I watched you fire or layoff some super talented people because you didn't like the fact that they thought for themselves and had an opinion.
