Vitel's supervisors are lazy and lack experience at being team leaders, management is responsible for your daily work and they don't care how much money you make

    Advice to Management

don't treat employees like they can't find work elsewhere

    Pros

They actually have steady employment, company vehicles, and they actually teach transferable skills that you can take into another job.

    Cons

Management, like so many other places. Believe it or not there were people working there who made over $100k a year and had their pay cut because management didn't like that uneducated workers were making that much. I actually heard it with my own ears and saw the changes with my own eyes.

    Advice to Management

Remember that each workers is a representation of not only your company but the companies you service. And success on paper doesn't always mean success in the workplace.

I worked at Vitel Communications full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

very independent work environment, good people to work with.

    Cons

Had to pay for most of your work tools. Very heavy favoritism with work load.

    Advice to Management

Work orders should be distributed based on experience and quality and not on your relationships.

I worked at Vitel Communications (Less than a year)

    Pros

Varied workday, choose your lunch break, laid back work environment, meeting new people (customers), learning more about a geographical area, timely pay.

    Cons

LONG workdays (you are there at 6AM and will finish as late as 8PM/9PM), lack of employee privacy (managers will freely discuss your work ethic/disciplinary action with your co-workers), you will not get your paycheck until AFTER your job is complete (unless you have direct deposit), six day work weeks, no real room to advance, you must buy your own tools/materials, you are paid in piecework or minimum wage (meaning that you will have to hump like crazy to get a decent take home check). ONLY WORK FOR THIS COMPANY IF YOU NEED A JOB, AND NEED TO GET ON YOUR FEET. THIS IS A HORRIBLE COMPANY WITH A HIGH TURNOVER RATE.

    Advice to Management

Stop discussing employee disciplinary issues in front of co-workers; do random drug tests on your drivers, as they smoke weed while working; stop behaving colloquially with employees, as you will get no respect when you have to do anything disciplinary; Piecework sucks, as everyone deserves a decent hourly wage with decent benefits; fifty bucks is not enough money to pay for a cell phone that will have to be used to do the job.
