I worked at Viterra full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people who worked there were really great. Hours were great too (8-5) I liked working days and no weekends

    Cons

Not the best work life balance for temporary employee. Felt like I could have received better training. And permanent positions should receive better wages

    Pros

Good benefits package, can sometimes bank excessive overtime to paid time off.

    Cons

    Poor working environment and conditions.

    Advice to Management

They need to actually follow their own procedures.... safety in particular.

    Pros

Above fair wages, Great hours and great people!
I have worked for Viterra for just over 2 years, The management/bosses here are wonderful, Always out to help you in any way including climbing the corporate ladder.
I started as a casual and just 2 years later I am already up for running my own shift as manager.

    Cons

Not a whole lot of cons working for this company other then it being DUSTY!
The days are long (13.3 hour days) but you work a 3 on 4 off shift, with once a month doing a 7 on 7 off.. so really can't complain at all!

    Advice to Management

Not a whole lot of advice to give, other then keep giving the great advice and treatment to your staff you already do!
Be nice if the top top guys came around every so often to meet their employes

I have been working at Viterra full-time

    Pros

Early days. Instead of 5pm you can leave at 4:30. Direct deposit pay.

    Cons

High turnover rate. Cannot keep staff so people are left to do 2-3 staff members job. Boring and mundane. Cough up a lung due to poor facility maintenance and dust leaks. Pretty much left for dead.

    Advice to Management

Realize when your managers need to leave or retire. Wake up! You pay just enough so people will survive to work for you.

I have been working at Viterra full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good pay, good benefits, challenging work when it is busy, strong growth in the industry, pleasant interactions with vendor partners.

    Cons

Earned days off (EDOs) were phased out years ago, rude and unpleasant coworkers, no effort to make a team environment or even a happy environment, managers are passive aggressive, high work turnover, no documented procedures for tasks, a general bad attitude towards the parent company, and generally it is a very emotionally damaging environment. Also, there is very little cultural diversity and very little overall diversity in the middle and upper management levels.

    Advice to Management

Get better project and change management practices, document tasks, try to make the culture less poisoned. It could be a great place if people weren't either unhappy or unpleasant in their jobs. Also, include more team building and community oriented aspects to the company. Either you claim to be coummunity oriented and are or you aren't, and so far you aren't.
