I have been working at Vlocity full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Confidence in Sr. Management's experience in Vertical CRM Market based on personal experience watching them grow Siebel years ago. Leveraging SalesForce as a platform saves huge $$$ in convincing the market they are on a platform that is here to stay AND cloud, Oracle, IBM, SAP, other legacy SW vendors have a culture that is based on their past, Vlocity is Current and new. SO REFRESHING! Product development... leverages generic Salesforce apps, platform and data model, so Vlocity development is MUCH FASTER when you see what a customer can deploy from an enterprise perspective; and quickly. When I was at a huge SW vendor based in Redwood Shores, that was't even a dream let alone possible. Its so nice using and learning new tools ( Google Apps/SF) and feeling current. From a sales perspective, I feel great about delivering a software as a service model that directly and proactively tailors the industry need AND allows tweaks and processes to be saved and downloaded for others to use. Free. Consulting partners can spend more time transforming business processes and providing transformation work rather than custom code that kills the easy cloud upgrade model. Because we create the value, sell and maintain it, Vlocity retains the revenue. As a stock holder, I like that! More than anything, It's great to be excited about selling a product I believe in again. Thank you Vlocity!

    Cons

Fast deployment model using 90/10 rule is slightly ahead of what a lot of organizations are used too, but this will come as businesses catch up to what's available. That's what transformation is, right? Some reviewers complain about no 401K match; I guess they never heard of an ISO ( incentive stock option plan), that IS the retirement plan. I'm sure later, matching will be added, just like unlimited vacation was... just added this past week. BIGGEST CON for me is I'm used to using a Thinkpad/Windows/MS Office platform, and Vlocity uses MacBooks and Google, so I'm learning something new and cool - Google apps; Macs are still not that great but not everything is perfect. System Integrators need to shift their model to Business Process Transformation and configuration rather than custom code; so potentially some of the slow to adapt might push back. Hyper growth makes certain internal help back up a little as the firm rapidly hires and trains new talent. This is my 5th emerging/startup company and I have found that fast growth creates this "work vacuum". Its part of the territory, but should be leveling off in the next year or two as we slow from 100% growth.

    Advice to Management

Stay the course and keep true to the requirement of "A Players" as we staff up. I each vertical, look to expand even more into areas of the business that Salesforce has not traditionally ventured. With the exception of back office ERP/ HCM,... own it all!

I have been working at Vlocity full-time for less than a year

    Pros

GREAT Leadership. Hyper growth company. A lot of room to grow your career. People are helpful, encouraging and really smart. Great opportunity to help the company through a large growth spurt. Senior executives always talk about making sure their employees are happy and we are! Lunches and breakfast are offered plus a kitchen full of snacks. Customers are always first so we are a shiny polished company.

    Cons

We need better coffee. Other than that, the company is great.

I have been working at Vlocity full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I joined a little over a year ago, and I couldn't have imagined how much the company has grown in the past ~12 months. What I thought was still a start-up - with the growing pains I've seen in my previous companies - were well on their way to being addressed from organisational, product and sales perspectives. The company's leadership team knows where they're trying to take the organisation, which can be rare in... 5-year old companies. The pace of work is fast, and for those who enjoy such an environment, it's a great place to be. People are friendly, and because most of us here have been working for more than a few years, colleagues are more inclined to help each other than to compete for the boss' attention.

    Cons

Whilst most of the growing pains are out of the way, salaries are still more aligned with a start-up. My team does regular performance appraisals, but my friends in other teams have had to ask for theirs. Benefits are fair, but not in step with the likes of the companies from whence new hires are joining. We support some quite notable brands around the world as customers, but sometimes areas of internal... operations remain a bit unattended.

    Advice to Management

Please continue to keep us apprised of where we are and where we're going. The All Hands meetings are helpful, but not all leaders cascade information through the organisation as you think they may be doing. The staff do a good job of keeping each other informed, but it's sometimes via Slack and corridor conversations, which can mean messages get unintentionally mixed or out of sequence.

I have been working at Vlocity full-time for less than a year

    Pros

I'm a new employee - so this review is focused on the recruiting and onboarding experience. I was recruiting by an internal recruiter and it was a good experience. The recruiter was diligent about follow-ups and schedules. The executives I spoke with had positive and open answers to my questions. Two specific examples of how they handle recruiting - #1 - the CEO took time on the last day of the FY to video... conference with me and #2 - I made a non-standard request during recruiting process - instead of getting "no we don't do that", I got "give me a day to figure it out" - and they came through on the request. In terms of onboarding - combination of online training and lots of Product content - plenty to get you going.

    Cons

Not sure if this is a "con" or more of a mindset - but given the high rate of growth, client travel, and remote/telecommuters - there isn't a lot of face to face communication and relationship building. People are helpful and positive by phone and web meeting, but not much "grabbing coffee and talk it over". Not unexpected for a international technology company - just a heads up to be aware of.

I have been working at Vlocity full-time for less than a year

    Pros

This is one of the best company cultures I've encountered in 30+ years in Bay Area tech. Most companies have a few bad apples, but in my six months here I haven't encountered even one. The products are very complex, so this is a great place if you like a challenge.

    Cons

All the cons I can think of are high-level problems. Because the product is complex, the learning curve is steep. Because the company is growing so rapidly, schedules can be chaotic.

    Advice to Management

As the company grows, add processes to tame the chaos, but otherwise, keep doing what you're doing, because it's working!

    Cons

Would I like more vacation? Yes. Is the vacation policy dire, no. Many folks here are Salesforce transplants. As someone coming from outside the industry, the vacation policy, ESOP and insurance are great. Pay is average, and really need to advance to a bonus structure. Should match 401k too.

I have been working at Vlocity full-time

    Pros

Vlocity is going through hyper growth because the products are innovative, the partnership with Salesforce, Accenture and other big SIs are important and strategic, and because customers are seeing great results. I like the fact that a big emphasis is placed on customer success and the executive team is behind sales, product, marketing and delivery teams to ensure that. Sure, there are customers that have... problems, but this is a complex, large enterprise solution so naturally there are issues. The important thing I've seen to date is that these issues are eventually resolved and people generally stay calm. Since I work with the product heavily and get excited with new technology (in general), it's a breath of fresh air to work for a company that embraces the new technology standards and moves quickly. For example, there's been a lot of work placed towards moving the new tools into Lighting Web Components, which was just released by Salesforce but the team has been working with them long before anything was announced. The executive team, while yes mostly white men, are smart, down to earth, and supportive. They believe in the product, the teams that has been hired to develop, market and sell, and probably work the hardest out of anyone else in the company. The culture is difficult to gauge because many work from home. So it's about making an effort to stay connected, stay on top of your own work (managers don't micromanage), and help each other when needed. Some people are super helpful and respond quickly. Some need to be emailed, texted, called, and called again before they answer but are still very helpful. We are all shareholders, so as long as we keep helping our customers be successful and grow, we'll make more money for the company and more for ourselves. It's a fast moving company, there are growing pains, we try new things, fail quickly and try again. It's Vlocity both for customers and internally. Some people don't like sudden changes, I personally like it.

    Cons

Benefits are mediocre at best. Medical/Dental/Vision is great and kept at a very reasonable price point. No 401k matching, minimum holidays, 14 PTO days, no gym or health stipends, no partnerships to offer discounted prices on popular products or places to visit, no stipend to build your home office, and you get my point. The executive team believes (and I agree) that the partnership with Salesforce is the most... important thing. Because Salesforce can shut us off from deals if they don't understand the Vlocity value, we are somewhat at their mercy. But once they understand what Vlocity can do for the customer, I think we'll start seeing many more doors open. Same thing with partners, many SIs see Vlocity as a build vs. buy option, but that's not entirely the case. Still, that misunderstanding doesn't help drive the value Vlocity brings to the table, thus leaving us at their mercy at times.

    Advice to Management

You're well aware that changes are coming to the company because of the size it is reaching. You're well aware the challenges that come with more employees, more managements, more executives - but you've done this before. Please don't let it turn into a toxic. political warfare where each team is only interested in their own survival at the expense of others. Ultimately, if this company falters, it's because a toxic... culture drove all the good people away and that impacted every area of the business and customers.
