I worked at Vodafone full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

international travel was a nice perk. Working with global teams. Having a global brand helped open doors for meetings. In some roles you can work autonomously.

    Cons

Management has absolutely minimal interest in you or your career.

Vodafone has a female leadership issue, which is why year after year the culture permits senior leaders to Dress in Drag and Perform vulgar skits during the annual sales meetings. international travel cut dramatically making the job less interesting. HR is abysmal, old boy network still in place, you will be pressured to go team building (drinking) with senior leaders who may be functioning alcoholics. There are very few opportunities for advancement here and the turnover rate is extremely high.

    Advice to Management

Pretend to care about career advancement and development.

Stop promoting Yes Men. There is no innovation going on at Vodafone right now. Many Snarky, tone deaf, miserable people leading the U.S.. They were depressing to talk to and work with.

Stop the tacky drag routines at the sales meetings (senior management dressed like street walker with cartoon sized breasts dancing to Get Lucky to motivate the sales team) and actually hire a woman or 2. They would stop the tacky sexist drag act in the planning meetings!

I worked at Vodafone full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Travel to the UK. Good pay. Worked remote from home. Financially strong company. Great products and services.

    Cons

HR was the worst - the company used Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) to get rid of good employees management didn't like. My manager and Americas executive management were the pits. UK had almost double the amount of holidays and time-off as the Americas team.

    Advice to Management

Take some people skills classes and be more appreciative of your non-management employees.

    Pros

    Benefits are solid
    Good amount of PTO
Pay is decent...Honestly that is all

    Cons

Managers are goofy, socially akward, or just dont genuinely care enough about anyhting but themselves.

Selfish culture when it comes to calibrations to determine raises and bonuses.

    Advice to Management

    Needs a complete rehaul

I worked at Vodafone full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great work environment (home based + hot desking office) and conditions. Good competitive but supportive culture. Generous vacation, competitive pay, decent equipment to work with.

    Cons

Network operator industry is on this perpetual slide. As an operator your want stability and predictability yet the industry is one of increasingly rapid innovation and continuous competitive threats. Service innovation and price decline. Always sprinting to tread water. This can be a bit frustrating at times.

    Advice to Management

Just focus on being the greatest MNO you can be. Shareholder return is secondary, market share is secondary.

    Pros

I had a great bunch of guys to work with, all remote from the corporate offices. All of had previous experience doing support of security or enterprise level products.

    Cons

The company has a code of conduct that spells out that harassment will not be tolerated. Seems that is only applicable to within the company. Even if the other company has the same code of conduct there appears to be the thought that we can't call the customer on their code of conduct to stop harassment of our employees. Fear of losing the contract.

    Advice to Management

a really stupid situation. The group was quickly brought together in violation of Vodafone policies concerning in country upper management. Who created this mess? What are you going (or have done) about this? How are you going to prevent this from happening again?
