I worked at Vodafone full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Reasons are that it's a global company so the benefits should always grow with hard work and the employees would always have a second goal to achieve

    Cons

Finally if they see my abilities and let me grow inside the company the will realize that potention of moving forward faster is the ability of growing faster

    Advice to Management

Give potential to the employees so the will give their hearts at the next step and the next so they Willa Leah's be able to give 100% work

  4. "Vodafone UK"

Former Contractor - Project Coordinator in Bracknell, England (UK)
Former Contractor - Project Coordinator in Bracknell, England (UK)

I worked at Vodafone as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

    Modern building in Bracknell
    Onsite gym, reasonable monthly membership
    People friendly

    Cons

    Canteen/coffee shop quite expensive
Managers keep themselves to themselves, don't chat with team
Trying to save money - cleaners no longer load dishwashers so cups either stack up or senior people load (not sure that's the best use of their time)
Flexible working - has to be pre-booked/approved and it can't be the same day each week
Seems a strange company to work for - seems to be the sink or swim mentality, help/guidance not really given even to permanent staff
It seems you're a number rather than a person

I worked at Vodafone full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Not many that I can think of. Probably the most political organisation I have ever worked for. Pays well I guess.

    Cons

Unfortunately there are many of these! Don't believe the hype - let me put you straight on a few thing:
1- This is not a flexible company to work for - you have to apply each week to work from home
2- Forget any management support - it's every man for himself- watch your back!
3- The annual performance appraisal system is toxic! It is based on a 'bell curve' and basically someone has to 'take one' for the team- i.e. - get a bad performance rating
4- Management is shockingly bad. Narcissistic, Bullying,
5- Escalations are commonplace and used as the general vehicle to get things done
6- Complete lack of automation in internal processes - CustomerService lead time is shockingly long
7- Vodafone trailing the market in their Product offering- only now launching SDN - 18 months after their competition!

    Advice to Management

Hire some managers who actually know what they're doing - preferable not jumped up squirts from BT!

    Pros

The people who in the majority are hardworking professional individuals.

    Cons

    Cultural mix makes development difficult.

    Advice to Management

Focus on the success of your teams rather than the success of yourself. Address the gender pay gap.

I worked at Vodafone (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fantastic Reward scheme, clear and tangible targets, never dull and exciting solution/products to engage clients with!

Hours can be long to be successful but the company will support if you ask for it

Great diversity and scope within company, ideal for people looking for a fast paced and ever changing work environment

    Cons

Like all organisations of this size the politics and the stakeholder list to get anything implemented can be extremely frustrating, lots of people want to claim ownership for a job well done but just as quickly point a finger at each other when it falls down

    Advice to Management

Some real great talent in the organisation and dare I say it perhaps too many 'thinkers' and 'strategists' in ratio to the people that have to get stuff done!

    Pros

Get to work with different teams, offshore and Internal. Offer a work from home policy , one day a week.

    Cons

Not very good at communication and continuity with process and who to go to when need assistance, passing the buck a lot. Very sloppy shoulders attitude from perm employees.

    Advice to Management

    Review/Provide Clearer processes and ownership.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Vodafone full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The hours were reasonable, the people are generally nice

    Cons

Senior management completely out of touch with the rest of the people - terrible processes at every turn - less and less perks and the pay isn't all that great!

    Advice to Management

It's not all just about squeezing every penny out of things.

I have been working at Vodafone full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Good exposure to the Telco industry.
    - Wide range of roles.

    Cons

    - Felexible working is limited to 1 day a week and is subject to line managers approval.
    - Almost all staff perks and benefits have been subject to the cost cutting axe.
    - Extremely bureaucratic management.
    - Senior leadership team are out of touch with general population.
    - Bonus scheme based on company performance and bell curve theory. You need to be cosy with your operations manager/ head of to be awarded anything other than a good.
    - Lack of continuity with company strategies.
    - HR have no power to assist with workplace issues and rely on people managers to "do the right thing".

    Advice to Management

Actually truly listen to your staff, they're not happy and you're making it worse which is making all of your talented staff jump ship.
