I have been working at Vollrath full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

This is a good company with good benefits.

    Cons

Be careful which department you work for. Some of the managers are not good to work for and give no opportunity for advancement. Careful of the accounting department.

    Advice to Management

They are trying to change things which is good but remember you can not change a person's personality.

I have been working at Vollrath full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Family owned, huge growth in past 5 years

    Cons

Management is rife with people who berate and criticize employees in all of the areas. There are no career levels to aspire to

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the narcissists. They are driving the moral down.

I worked at Vollrath part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The company truly cares about its employees. Working in the factory can be difficult, so they try to make it as fun as possible while stilling doing on good job.

    Cons

Some of the machinery and processes they use are extremely outdated. The company is making strides to upgrade, but it might be a while before this happens.

    Advice to Management

My advice to management would be to make sure to have better communication to employees in all departments. Lots of problems seemed to be created by people not talking directly to one another.

    Pros

Great atmoshere of change. Employees not afraid to try something different. No one plays the blame game. Management is open and available. There seems to be a new atmoshere of a more communicative and cooperative managerial style in the last few years.

    Cons

Salaries are low and benefits are sub par. Medical benefits are a burden for most non-managerial employees. Data systems are tragically outdated and slow.

    Advice to Management

You have a good solid company with a lot of solid motivated employees. Give them the opportunities to shine. Stay up with technology, it is where the next generation will be buying. Don't be afraid to spend a little on your people. They are worth keeping and as the job market becomes more competitive, you do not want to lose these people.
