    Pros

Pay is much higher than any other job in retail I've ever had. They offer commission, which varies based on the department you work in.

    Cons

Management literally does not care at all. If you're even 1 minute late it is considered a tardy, so make your tardys worth it and be super late. I can't say enough about how terrible the dress code is. I frickin hate pantyhose. If you accidentally get a run in them you have to take your 15 minute break, get your wallet, and buy a new pair. No exceptions.

    Advice to Management

An updated dress code would be great. Pants are so comfortable. Also, if the management gave a crap that would be cool. You can't have happy employees with a terrible management base.

I worked at Von Maur part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good pay, holidays off, time and a half sundays

    Cons

Dress code:pantyhose/ tights, horrible, tattling co workers, impossible sales goals, negative attitude from floor managers,

    Advice to Management

It would be a great idea to actually treat adults like adults. I felt horrified when I was given my monthly review and treated like a child because I didn't make my sales goal. When I received a customer complaint- because the customer was over her cc limit, I was made to feel it was my fault customer's transaction was unable to go through.

I worked at Von Maur part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The pay was pretty good for retail, and you would get commission. The 30% employee discount was great, and my coworkers were great.

    Cons

Working at Von Maur was miserable. The dress code was silly and impractical, and managers were not at all willing to listen to the employees, only their overlords in Iowa.

    Advice to Management

Stop micromanaging, delegate the scheduling to the DMs, and treat them better while you're at it.
