I worked at Vons part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible schedule and good work experience. If the store manager liked you, you would often be able to work in other departments and learn new jobs in the store.

    Cons

No considerable wage increase and poor store management. Would often be paid as a courtesy clerk/bagger, but would have to be a cashier without receiving the appropriate hours and compensation. Managers would often send cashiers and courtesy clerks to help with other departments, which caused the front end to be frequently understaffed.

    Advice to Management

Promote managers and supervisors based off of experience. Treat every employee with equal amounts of respect, not just the ones you like.

    I worked at Vons part-time

    Pros

The people that I worked with that were at the Solana Beach Vons, were really nice, they always had my back and would help me whenever.

    Cons

    The manager was kinda mean.

    Advice to Management

Maybe try and think of your workers needs, and what they should be working in.

I worked at Vons full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great hours, great place to get experience of how multimillionaire dollar businesses operate. Takes time to train you to do things the right way. Vons spent a lot of money sending me to enrichment classes so I can learn valuable skills to take with me after I leave.

    Cons

Corporate interferes too much. What works in store might not always work in another store, but darn if they didnt try to make everything uniform.

    Advice to Management

When your DM goes into a store, they will do anything and everything to prove that their 100,000 salary is worth it, so they will find areas of improvement, just to justify their jobs.

I worked at Vons part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Dental provided by Union. I can't see any other benefit aside from Union insurance.

    Cons

Low pay, employees under supervisors and managers are treated like slaves. The outrageously demanding customers are the worst part of the job aside from cleaning up trash your lazy co-workers couldn't be bothered to care for.

    Advice to Management

Better pay, treat employees like human beings with a soul, and listen to their requests with an open and reasonable mind.
